Anyone else looking forward to Dallas on TNT?

Just 1 week until the new Dallas on TNT premieres. I’m looking forward to it, and early reviews say it’s good. I watched the entire original series, all the movies, and can’t wait to see this.

I remember watching Dallas - in Germany - when it was a big hit. Sort of fun to listen to J.R. and Sue Ellen and the gang all rattling away in German…

So yeah, I will probably tune in, considering they have actually brought back a couple of the old actors (key word: old) just to see how this version flies. I think they tried to do a spin off years ago with just the kids of the Ewings and that show tanked rather quickly.

Dallas and Dynasty were both fun, mindless froth at the time - but not sure they can put that lightning back in the bottle for this new show, but who knows?

I am looking forward to it.

Should be some great Summer fun. Not looking forward to feeling old as I see how much the original cast has aged, though!

I’m going to give it a shot out of curiousness, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the old show. I’m interested in the restart and how the new characters and the old characters will get screen time and interact in the stories.

I’m also embarrassed to admit that I thought Larry Hagman was dead. My bad!

My mom loved the original, so she’ll probably watch it.

I got hooked on Dallas by an old girlfriend, so yes I will probably watch.

The previews look to be edgy and concentrated more towards the family issues than the business issues.

He was only mostly dead until he got a new liver.

Also, I notice three of the original actors in the commercials (Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray), I wonder if there will be more. Even if they will be one shot guest appearances.

According to this thread from last summer Ray, Lucy are supposed to come back. (but Probably not in the hay loft together)

I sure hope not, considering that they KNOW they’re cousins now… (Ray was Jock’s illegitimate son and Lucy is Gary Ewing’s daughter (Gary was the black sheep brother who moved to California)).

If anyone is interested, Patrick Duffy, Larry Hagman, and Linda Gray are on Leno tonight.

I wasn’t interested, but this review by my preferred TV critic, Tim Goodman, made sure I stayed that way.

I’ll watch but just because I live near Southfork Ranch and often go bike riding nearby (sometimes I ride down the road that goes right past the driveway but usually I’m a little further south). It’s always kind of a rush to see a place you’re so intimately familiar with being portrayed on television (as something completely different of course).

Watched it. Not sure if it was my imagination, but it seemed as if Patrick and Linda were almost “protective” of Larry - as if they were afraid of his health/appearance/mental state during the show and were trying to cover for him.

I haven’t seen that interview yet, but Larry was diagnosed with cancer earlier, so he may not be at the top of his game…

I plan to give it a fair chance, but I’m not expecting anything spectacular.

That would be great if the proved my low expectations wrong.

We’re set up to DVR it. I am looking forward to checking it out.

I’m DVRing it as well – mainly because I’m in it (as an extra, probably visible in the dive bar scene in episode 6 – watch for me!). I never watched the old show, even though (or maybe because) I LIVE in Dallas, but I’ll probably watch this even if it’s not very good, because I want them to come back to town and shoot some more episodes.

(I hasten to add that I expect it to be pretty good, based on the scenes I’ve seen while they filmed.)

Watched it last night.

I kind of like the writing and the plots, but the acting was atrocious. Especially from the Dallas Vets. Sue Ellen was really bad. Dang, Ray and Lucy have gained a lot of weight. And fortunately, not in the hayloft together.

And I couldn’t tell the young people apart too well. The only way I could tell John Ross from Christopher was the face fuzz.

Elena and Rebecca and Marta looked very similar too. Couldn’t they have made one of them a blonde?

More speculation than spoiler:

Christopher wife’s name is Rebecca? That was the name of Afton’s little girl. Is she going to turn out to be Afton’s and Cliff’s daughter?

I don’t remember the two reunion movies very well, but apparently those plotlines are being ignored. Maybe they were just “Dreams” of one of the cast.

I’ll give it a few more episodes. Hopefully the acting gets better. And I can tell the actors and actresses apart

Uhm … wouldn’t that make them uncle and niece?
