Anyone else looking forward to Dallas on TNT?

I loved the Mitch Pileggi character. The guy just oozed sleaziness any time he was on screen, and really hammed it up, but in a good way. Even though they pretty much wrapped up his story line, I really hope they find some excuse to bring him back.

All in all a good first season - very much the “old Dallas” TV show I remember, but with some nice new characters.
Will most certainly tune in again in January for Season 2.

They nailed it! I wasn’t on-board with the younger half of the cast when things started, but by the end they had me wrapped up just like the old cast did. They really had the old formula down pat as well. I loved this whole season! Can’t wait till the return in January…

Bumping this thread to say that JR Ewing (a couple spoilers ahead):
is finally going to meet his maker in the 2nd season reboot of the original series.

Larry Hagman died during the filming of the 2nd season and apparently next Monday’s episode, JR is going to get killed. And furthermore, the person ultimately responsible is Pam Ewing (original recipe), because she thinks JR was behind the accident, her injuries, or something convoluted. I have been watching and she is not even part of any current plotlines. I have not seen any spoilers that that Victoria Principal is returning to the series..

There is going to be a reunion of sorts with Gary Ewing, Mandy Winger, Ray Krebbs, and Lucy at the funeral the following week.
Mondays on TNT.

I see ratings have slipped, but we are still watching.

It is much like the “old” Dallas - same back stabbing, plots, tricks, good vs evil - nothing much changed. But it is like the proverbial old shoe - you can slip right into it and feel comfortable. They really have done a good job of keeping the show as it was; now whether or not you liked the show as it was is another question.

For a night time soap opera, it is pretty good and moves along at a good clip. The new characters are not horrible, and they have a nice mix of the new and the old.

It will be interesting to see how they incorporate the real-life death of J.R. (Larry Hagman) into the story. I think that is coming up in the next episode or two. The writers have promised a fitting evil plot with the surprise of who murdered J.R.

I’m back watching this season, although I am a few episodes behind. Looking forward to how they handle J.R.'s death (I hope that is not a spoiler since everyone knows that Hagman died) but I’m worried about how interesting the show will be without him. I’m not sure John Ross can carry the load of evilness on his own.

Just another bump…

that possibly a Landmark episode is being broadcasted tonight.

Darn, I’m like three episodes behind still. I guess I won’t be returning to this thread until I catch up!

I’ll admit I didn’t see the thing with Anne and her ex-husband coming; that was the Dallas I remember from the 1980s!

The funeral of JR Ewing next week.

Anyway, just when did Cliff Barnes become a manipulative, Machiavellian asshole. I seem to remember him in the original series being a hapless, naive, bleeding heart liberal.

It seems to me like the are bringing Sue Ellen up to be a real baddie this season. The whole thing with taking Elena’s stock and working so secretly and malevolently with her son. If that’s the case, she could pull it off. Plus she’s already tainted from the bribery scandal.
