Anyone have a spare Gmail invite?

I’d like to try out Gmail, but I don’t know anyone who has it. If anyone has a spare invitation I’d really appreciate it!

Email is in profile.

Thanks!

Sure – will send now.

On its way over. Quick or what?

Bah. A day late, a dollar short, an invite wasted. :smack:

Nope, somehow I got your invite first.

Thanks to you too though Twickster!

My bad – there was an incoming email (I don’t always remember to check that acct.) and I took the time to read it and respond to it before I sent the invite.

Oh well. There’s more where that came from.

(Or something. I do realize that doesn’t make any sense.)

I don’t use my gmail account, but somehow it’s accrued 100 invites. If anybody wants one send email to jameshcunningham@gmail.com.

This is better suited for MPSIMS. I’ll kick it over there for you.

ummm… never a good thought to leave your e-mail address on a public forum.

It’s a good place for spammers to get your address from, and the “bots” they use pounce on every ampersand that’s accessible freely.

Just a thought.

Why do you have to have an invite to join gmail?

Because it’s in “beta”, and I think it drums up interest. I’ve got 300 invites if anyone wants one. I love gmail, by the way.

Could you email one to me. I want to see what it is about. Thanks!

I just sent one to you.

I love Gmail!

Thank you!

Google will send you a text message with an invite (in the US only). Linky

Just an update, I got mine all set up last night, I moved all my yahoo stuff over there (was getting very weary of all the junk I received at yahoo, I know it all went into the bulk folder but still…) anyway, Im enjoying it so far. I installed the notifier so that I know when I get new mail, even when my gmail isn’t opened in any browser. The only way I could do that with yahoo was to either run messenger (which I don’t use) or install their toolbar which I had no use for. And here I am the next day and not a single piece of spam or junk mail has come through gmail. I would have had at least 30 or forty things in my bulk folder at yahoo during that time. All in all I like it alot.

I think how much spam you get is more a result of how you use the email, and not the provider. With time, likely your new gmail address will be getting as much spam as your Yahoo address did, assuming you use it as much.

I’m a big fan of gmail, but you probably would have seen this drop in spam simply by making and using a new Yahoo address too.

I’ve been using my gmail account for quit a few months now, and am constantly amazed by the lack of spam that I get. And I use my gmail address to sign up for everything, so as to leave my work and isp accounts uncluttered. I think I’ve only received half a dozen spam emails in the last 6 months; my guess is that Google’s spam filters are tossing everything out before it hits my inbox.

If it does that, that would big black mark against it in my book. There’s too much of a risk of never seeing a legitimate email that was false positive in their filter. I want to be the final arbiter of what is spam and what isn’t.

Likely the places you happened to use that email with just weren’t selling their lists as much as places you used before with other email accounts.
