Anyone in the San Diego area having Cox cable or internet trouble today, 2014-12-01?*

Well, it seems our Internet service has been down since early this afternoon. Cox told me, about three hours ago, it’s a known issue; by their estimation it should have been fixed by now, but it isn’t.

Their support line is swamped. How does this happen? It’s a bit disconcerting to say the least. I’m thankful that this is just a nuisance for me today, but what about other people who have a critical need? And for those of us affected who also have Cox phone service, there’s no landline today.
*(But you can still use your smart phone to do it, or how would I expect you to answer?)

East end of town, near La Mesa, no problems. I’ve been bloviating on SDMB most of the day.

The world might be better off if my service were interrupted, but, nothin’ today.

Posting from Escondido here. I forgot to mention that the Cox CSR said there had been a commercial power outage affecting the power supply they use for their distribution boxes. However, this problem apparently affects only their residential customers. If it were that, you’d think it would be fixed by now.

I’m in the city, in the North Park area.

Overall, the connection is working just fine, although amazingly Google seems to be down for me.

I can get basically any and every other website, including the SDMB and search engines like Bing, but Google won’t work in Firefox or Chrome.
