So, we under a Chinese cyberattack or what?
It’s super annoying.
I just called my cable company (Cablevision) to get a status update and got the message people get if you forget to pay your phone bill: “The number you have dialed is not in service. Please check the number and try again.”
That’s never a good sign.
EDIT: To clarify, my cable is down but I still have internet and landline, both also from Cablevision. Haven’t checked my cell but my cell doesn’t work at my house (1 bar at most on a good day) and I’m not getting in a car to drive around and check.
Internet working fine on the Chesapeake Bay.
No internet here in my part of Westchester (the area just north of NYC). My cell is still working, which is how I’m posting.
I can’t wait to get service again. I have work to do tonight.

Still working here in Northern Virginia.
Eastern Connecticut.
We’ve been watching Netflix all evening, so no evidence of internet outage here.
Wikipedia is down, at least for me.
Everything’s good in New Hampshire.
Yeah, Wikipedia doesn’t seem to be working here either. That’s the only problem I’ve encountered, though.
DownDetector has people from the US to Europe to Russia to North Africa saying Wikipedia is down.
Things are fine in Eastern PA, also.
Aye; Wikipedia has been fucked up all day. Still down right now for me.
FWIW, no issues here in central Kansas. Wikipedia seems to be fine.
Is this internet outage related in any way to the reported T-Mobile outage this evening?

I’m in New York City. My T-Mobile phone is working fine (although I suppose T-Mobile could have gone down for an hour or two without me noticing) and my internet connection has been fine all day. Although I’m still at work, so I suppose my home internet service could be out.
And Wikipedia is working fine for me.
Fine in Philly with Comcast. XBOX live is down but they are saying that’s their own issue.
Wikipedia seems to be working again for me.
The silver lining for me is that my old (local) DVR still “sees” my cable connection, even though my cable is currently down, so the DVR will still play stuff I’ve recorded. (It just won’t record anything new.)
Remember the massive blackout a decade or so ago from Boston to Detroit? I lost cable and internet for a solid week from that, though power was restored after 3 days or so. So for 4 days I should have been watching (and clearing stuff off of) my DVR, but when the power came back on and the DVR booted up, it didn’t see a cable connection so it wouldn’t boot up. (Anti-theft measure, maybe?) So for those 4 days I had nothing but DVDs.
I’m patting myself on the back for resisting the constant “Upgrade to Multi-Room DVR!” sales pitches from Optimum. If I had that, I wouldn’t be able to watch anything because the multi-room DVR’s hard drive is at the cable company, unlike my local DVR where the hard drive is in the box itself.
I’m perfectly content to just watch down my DVR for the next day or so, but if I still don’t have cable by Sunday at 1pm Eastern I will be beyond pissed.
Internet working fine here in Boston.
Wikipedia is also okay.
Seems to be mainly affecting Optimum/Cablevision customers around NYC.
Xbox Live services just came up, they’ve been down since this morning. Something sure happened today.
There was a DDoS attack on Wikipedia. And maybe some issues with some ISPs.
You know you’re in the right when you have to resort to these tactics to prevent people from reading the “wrong” information on Wikipedia.
