Anyone know a good place to spend a night near Saratoga Springs?

My family and I will be heading out to Vermont from New Jersey at the beginning of June and, since the kidlings are pretty small, we want to break up the trip about halfway through. That puts us around Saratoga Springs, NY (Albany is too far south). Last year, we stayed at a B&B in Greenwich, which was great, but they’re booked.

We’d prefer a B&B, but would settle for a decent hotel or inn. Complimentary breakfast would be nice, but really, I’d settle for a nice hotel. I’m trying to avoid the lower rent motels/hotel chains, although I’m getting to the point where I think I’m going to have to settle for one. Any upstate Dopers have a suggestion?

I don’t know your price range, but here are 2 nice places you might check out.

The Mansion and The Inn at Saratoga

I should have mentioned prices. We’re thinking in the low $100s. I looked at the Inn and it’s awfully nice, but too expensive. I hadn’t seen the Mansion before, but that’s too much too.
Thanks.

Got any room at your place?

There’s the Saratoga Bed and Breakfast, and the associated Saratoga Motel:

If I did, you’d be more than welcome to stay with me. My little stone house is about the size of a motel room.

Here’s a site with several nice places in your price range.

Make sure to take a drive up to Lake George. The village is nice and quiet right now and the lake is beautiful.

Yay Vermont!

And Saratoga’s a nice town to stop in (when coming home from NYC or other places, I often stop for a dinner break in Saratoga; only about 2.5 hours from Burlington).

Unfortunately, I’ve never stayed the night there, aside from summer camp at Skidmore College. But, that said, considering the school is there, and the spas, and all that jazz, there must be hundreds of rooms available in that town.

Thanks for the information, everyone. And Eonwe, “yay Vermont” is right. My husband’s from Vermont (Jeffersonville) and it’s a beautiful place. We’ll be on Lake Champlain for a week, so fun times for all.
