I’ve been trying to pay for something on ebay thru Paypal since 7am…tried until 11am, went to work, and still I’m getting the “this page can not be displayed” error page…a couple of times this morning I got a Paypal “temporary difficulties” page. Does anyone know what’s going on, how long it will be down…was this mentioned on any news today? Live help chat thru ebay is no help…I’ve been waiting 20 minutes for an agent. Since you all know everything, I’m sure someone can enlighten me!
I got through to my account with no problems.
Well, apparently it’s me. Everythime I try tolog on, link to, click on anything having to do with Paypal, I get that “Page cannot be displayed”. I finally got thru to ebay help, and they had me delete my cache and cookies. Then I could get to Paypal’s homepage, but every button I click on…log in, help, register…goes right back to the error page. (and using the live chat ebay help was tedious…type three letter, click the mouse, type three more letters) And once I got the homepage I figured I was home free, so I signed off the help chat, and was too frustrated to log back on.
Still not accessing today. Had to go use a girlfriend’s computer to make the payment. Every other site I try…my bank, everything…is working fine. Even made a purchase. But no Paypal.
Anyone have any hints as to what I can try next? I used it on Wednesday and no problems. I checked all the security setting, which hadn’t changed since Wed. I hate this kind of aggravation?
And the worst part? My computer geek son says, can’t help you, Mom.
If you’re trying to pay for something you won on e-bay, you might consider e-mailing the seller to let him know you’re having problems so they don’t think you forgot about the auction.
As for what to try next, maybe another browser? Like if you use IE use aol or opera instead. Sometimes I have better luck on aol than with IE and vise versa.
This morning it works just fine. Unless my son did something overnight, it must have just been a 48-hour virus.
Thanks for the suggestions, elfkin. I had already emailed the seller, and I tried IE, but it didn’t help. The only thing that gave me partial success was when I typed https://paypal.com instead of just paypal.com. Then I could get to an actual login screen, but when I typed name and password, it went straight ot error page. On IE I just got a different error page!
I’m glad it’s working now, but I still would like to know what was going wrong…another mystery I don’t need.
