To answer your question re: Jess & Rory, they ran into each other & Jess kept leaving while Rory was home from Yale for the weekend (she does that a LOT) and Jess was sitting around waiting for his klunker to be fixed. They finally “talk” – basically, Jess said that he still loved Rory and then promptly bailed again. Nice.
Then Rory ended up crying in the arms of Dean because she wasn’t excelling as super-overachiever at Yale; a professor suggested that she drop a class because she was overloading herself.
Lorelei ended up crying in the arms of Luke because she was running out of money for her inn and for some reason chose to ask Luke for a $30K loan instead of her family or her boyfriend,.
Try to catch this episode when it comes around again. It’s a good one. It is the only episode I know of which had no scenes between Rory and Lorelai. Not even phone conversations. They kept missing each other and leaving messages. Lorelai kept getting more frustrated over the construction at the Inn, running out of money, and not getting as much help from Sookie as she needed. Rory’s roommate troubles came to a head, and her workload was overwhelming her. By the end, I really felt their frustration, which was only made worse because they couldn’t talk to each other about it.
