Anyone subcribe to Cook's Country?

…or happen to have a copy of the December/January issue from 2006? There is a recipe in there for a Western Slope Pear Cake with Ginger cream on page 13-14. When I made a copy of the recipe, I cut off the last few lines, where they listed some hints about making it ahead of time. All I have is the words:

Make Ahead: This cake tastes

I want to make it for a concert on Oct 5, and I’d love to know what the make ahead hint is so that maybe I can get a head start! Can anyone help me out?

I went back to the library I borrowed the magazine from, but it is one of their Express magazines that circulate until they fall apart, and they don’t keep an archived file…and it’s either checked out or gone. I went to the Cook’s Country website, but they want me to subscribe to get that recipe…and while I plan on subscribing someday, I can’t do it this year.

Wow. No one even came in to say No…

I can help you out! I am a subscriber.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure if the recipe information is going to help you out that much, though. The last line says:

Oh, thank you, thank you…that’s exactly what I needed to know! Perfect…now I can set my baking schedule and be assured the line DIDN’T read…this cake tastes horrible after the first day, bake just before serving and discard any leftovers…LOL.

Thank you so much. Don’t you just love that magazine?

You are welcome! Yes, it’s a great mag. We get their Cook’s Illustrated, too…it has taught me so much about cooking techniques. Let me know how the recipe comes out!
