I’ve just signed up with Zip.ca to give them a try. Although we do have several decent video stores in town, my tastes are rather unusual, and I was impressed by the wide selection on Zip.ca. My only hesitation is the mailing time for the disks to get here. They claim 3 business days to Western Canada (I’m in BC), but in reality, I can’t see Canada Post being that swift from Ontario to here. Any feedback from people who are using this service? I really enjoyed putting my list together (it’s huge already!). We’ll see now how this actually pans out.
Another question … What kind of packaging are the DVDs sent in? I live in an apartment, and consquently have those small little mailboxes (my magazines have to be folded in half to fit in). I’m hoping the packages will fit in the mailbox, or else it will delay my receipt of the movies, and I’ll have to go to the darn post office all the time to pick them up!
I have a tiny apartment mailbox too, and the zip.ca envelopes fit easily into it, so you don’t have to worry about that. The 3-day estimate is wildly optimistic, though. Occasionally I will get them that fast, but 5-8 days is more usual, and occasionally it will take even longer. My record so far is 22 days, unless you count the one that never arrived at all. I live on the island, though, which probably slows things down a bit.
