Yeah…and then alice_in_wonderland replies with a Nancy-Sinatra “boots are gonna walk all over you” and puts me in my place as a consequence
Oh that outfit looks really cute especially with those pumps. I can’t wait for fall because you get to wear jackets.
This reminds me of a video that was making it’s way around the net a few years ago, except instead of a boot it was a stellito heel…
Oooh…I love shoe threads! I’ve got my eye on these for fall: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/7443312/c/19685.html
There are so many cute shoes out there right now. I just don’t have enough outfits to go with all of them. A shopping excursion is in order.
I also like these. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/7424601/c/3.html - and the price is right!
Now I have to show you my wedding shoes.
I’m so proud of them. They’re the “Swan” style on this page.

I’ve informed Mr2U that these would look wonderful under our Christmas tree with my name on them.
Unfortunately, he was less than impressed.
However, this is not set in stone. I am lucky enough to have a almost sister in law (Mr2U’s brother’s long term girlfriend) who is a clothes horse. Fortunately, she also has a somewhat short attention span.
I have four large (think lawn and leaf size) bags of new clothes sitting at her house that I need to go pick up that she no longer wants. I am sure that there will be plenty of opportunity after going through them to pick out a few new pairs of shoes just to match the outfits of course.
Road trip.
That’s exactly what I do: www.ecco.com
They’re admittedly expensive, but the two pairs that I own (one black, one brown) are both several years old at this point and still look and wear fine, despite wearing one or the other daily year-round.
They came! And they’re lovely…
HORRAY!
However, the heel is 4.5 inches rather than the 3 listed in the advert - that will take a bit of getting used to - but, I’m well over 6’ tall when I have them all which is sort of a fun feeling.
The outfit is cute too - I can’t wait to try it on all together (I had it delivered to my office).
Horray for shoes! :):):)
As a 22 year old guy, all I can say is “huh?” Over $200 for shoes…shoes you apparantly can only wear with that outfit, which itself can only be worn September through December. I own a $40 pair of sneakers, a $50 pair of hiking boots, and a $90 pair of Teva sandals. Oddly enough, the sandals are the only ones I’ve bought myself, the others were gifts. I almost didn’t buy them, being $90 and all, but they have lasted me five years so far and will last at least one more summer.
I’m a big fan of practicality when it comes to clothing.
(I do, on the other hand, pay $15 a month to play City of Heroes and just bought several classic NES games to go with my classic NES. My classic NES which, BTW, I have spend close to $50 on to repaint it.)
Nah - I can wear them with tonnes of other outfits. And did I mention that I look HOT?!?!?
That in itself is worth $200…

I think we’ll need some kind of evidence of that.
Awesome, alice_in_wonderland. I love super high-heel shoes. They’re so hard to find without them looking cheap, slutty and like they came out of a time warp from New Jersey in the 80s.
I just bought these today in black. After I bought them I headed over to nordstrom.com to look for some jackets and saw that tuxedo-inspired shoes are in this fall. I’ve never purchased Tommy Hilfiger shoes. If they appear to be of good quality once I receive them, I’m going to buy these next. Hooray for shoes!
Or perhaps a good chunk of the year’s salary for the workers who make them. However, it’s only a small chunk of the money that the owner of Anthropologie’s parent company (the same on that owns Urban Outfitters) donated to Rick Santorum, so I guess it kind of evens out in some way.
My advice to any Bay Area shoe fiends is to head on over to Thrift Town in the Mission. I’ve found pristine John Fluevog shoes there in my size for five bucks the last two times I’ve been there. The hipsters in the area leave all their cast-off shoes there (often never worn- they just didn’t bother to return them when they didn’t fit) and I can barely walk out of there without something wonderful. Best of all, Thrift town conserves resources, provides benefits and a living wage to workers in my community, and raises a lot of money for charities.
Do you feel better about yourself now? I’m so glad.
If you want to get all political about footwear, I suggest you start your own thread - this one is mine and I’m not interested in having some snot come in and try to make it’s participants feel guilty for enjoying good footwear.
Or are you still trying to play the "I’m so poor I can’t afford decent shoes!” card, despite the $20,000 in the bank?
Yah, I thought so.
UrbanChic - those are hot! And think, only 5 underage workers were killed by an errant leather awl while making them!
I just got these.
They’re for cycling though. New, too expensive. I got a sweet deal though. The leather is KANGAROO.
For a straight guy, I probably appreciate women’s shoes too much. I like a well made, well shaped shoe, mens and womens. And Anthropologie is a nice store. I’d rather my wife have a crack addiction if it kept her out of there.
(I kid. . .but she is going to the mall with a friend this weekend. She’s just gotta stay out of Anthro and we’re all right.)
My cowboy boots are kangaroo also. For a moment after I bought them I was horrified because I convinced myself that Roos are endangered. Apparently that’s not the case (more plentyful than dirt, apparently).

I wanted to add - you’re my favorite type of guy. I really enjoy footwear, and any man I date would have to dig it somewhat as well. Obviously, the fella doesn’t need to have as many shoes as I do, but a man who appreciates what a really good shoe can do for the line of a woman’s leg is a man for me.
I spent more money this year on two pairs of shoes than I normally spend for footwear in five years…shoe-lust is such a terrible thing! For me, though, it’s boots:
These looked great with my goth/industrial/Shadowrun look at Gen Con (but boy, do they weigh a ton!)
and these I just fell in love with and had to have (but mine are the flat-heeled variety) despite the fact that I felt somewhat guilty about spending over $400 on them. That’s not something I normally even think about doing–I’m the one who laughs at the horribly overpriced (IMO, anyway–no offense meant to anyone who likes them) Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahniks at Nordstrom.
I think that’s about it for me and expensive footwear, though. Normally I wear slip-on Vans skateboard shoes, so I guess it evens out in the end.
I hear you winterhawk11, I just LOVE boots! It’s probably fortunate for me that I have large muscular calves and can’t wear most of the knee and thigh-high boots that I lust after.
But oh, what the right shoe or boot can do for a person’s body!
