My wife and I caught the latter half of an episode the other night by accident (the ninja revenge episode) and thought it was utterly hysterical. We will definitely be trying to catch it again sometime.
It’s going along a similar path as the Venture Brothers. The pilot and early shows had potential but weren’t quite hitting all cylinders. The ninja episode was the one where they finally began finding their place. When Hoop began his “revenge” killings and I realized what was going on … man I loved that.
I don’t know why but I keep thinking of them as Beavis (Hoop) and Butthead (Stroker) grown-up. And the animation kinda matches too.
I caught an episode or two a while back when they first took the show out for a test spin and wasn’t all that impressed. But after the ninja episode last weekend, I’m hooked for at least a few more episodes. They’ll keep me or lose me in the next few weeks.
Venture Brothers still rules the half-hour shows, for now.
Anyone else not looking forward to some of the new shows [AS] is pimping really hard lately?
ME! Squidbillies? 12 Ounce Mouse? The one with hair in the title? Please. I tried to watch the pilot for 12 Ounce Mouse, but it hurt my brain. Same goes for every episode of Tom Goes to the Mayor that I’ve tried to watch. We need more *ATHF *and Venture Bros. And, maybe, depending on how it turns out, Stroker and Hoop.
It was guaranteed sleepy time for me whenever I tried to watch it, but I finally stayed awake for all of the ninja episode. It was pretty good. Still missing the Venture Brothers and Home Movies, however. I watched a Home Movies the other day and it was vastly superior to anything Adult Swim has done lately.
I kind of liked the 12 Oz Mouse premier, but Squidbillies isn’t doing anything for me.
Still, I’ll give Stroker and Hoop a chance based on the ninja episode. Even if they’re bad, I’ll get a good nap out of it.
Hmmm…so it’s better n ow, people say? I was turned off by it from the pilot, and that diamond episode. Maybe I’ll start taping it and watching it (it’s on too late for me to watch it normally.)
One thing that has bugged the HELL out of me. Who the Hell is doing the voice of the car? IMDB says it’s Paul Christie, who has almost nothing else to his credit (and nothing I have seen), bit I SWEAR I recognize his voice from somewhere, I just can’t place it. Maybe the voice actor is doing a quasi-impersonation of someone?
Oh, I also wanted to add that although I didn’t emjoy the episodes I saw (although I will try to catch the new ones) the theme song and intro are awesome. So 70’s.
I’m loving the hell out of this show, right now. Quirky, clever. Characters acting (semi) rationally in an irrational world. Superb. I think this’ll tide me over until Venture Bros. returns.
And CARR’s voice sounds just like the guy who did the robot’s voice on the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cartoon, though it’s apparently a different actor.
