Anyone work in Operations? As in Director of Operations, etc?

I’m just curious what other Dopers doing Ops stuff actually do.

I’m a Director of Operations for a new investment fund. I am the jack-of-all-trades here. Pay bills, maintain a small LAN, fill out paperwork, look for new employees, program spreadsheets, keep the refrigerator filled, signatory on all legal matters, primary contact for setting up an offshore fund, attend conferences on investment stuff, etc. etc.

As an Operations person, what all do you do? What is the field like where you are? Is it a high demand position, or ???

Take care-

I’ve been said to work in a Very Special Operations unit before.

I, of course, deny everything.

I’m going to hell for this, you know. At least it’ll be warm there.

Well, I’ll be starting work in an Operations department in May, does that count?

What will you be doing?

Airman works in Operations for the 193rd Special Operations Wing.

He operates cool equipment in a cool plane.

I work in Operations, too. I process insurance claims. I’d rather be operating cool equipment, though. Just not in a plane.

Tripler - BUWHAHAHAHAH!!!

AHEM!! - when you see a decidedly red gentleman, cloven feet, pointy tail…mention the link you just posted if he is at all curious why you are down there…

You mean the “red scaly gentleman with antlers and a biforcated tail, who carries a hayfork”?

Tripler
I always thought Satan would dress like a pimp, myself. . .

Antlers? Hayfork? ANTLERS?

“Well, there’s all sorts of lesser imps and demons, but the great Satan hisself. . .”

I thought it was antlers. Maybe he said ‘horns’.

Tripler
“Either way, I’m spiritually unaffiliated.”

That’s Houseman’s exact title at his main job. He’s a shift manager at his auxiliary job. You’d have to ask him what he does though. It won’t be easy because he has about 7 posts here and 5 of those were me posting as him by accident.
