This question has not exactly been keeping me awake at night; I’m just idly curious. My roommate and I share a cable modem on a router. On IM, his status says “unconfirmed internet,” whereas mine just says “internet.” His status becomes idle after ten minutes of inactivity (as it should), but mine remains active. We’re both set up the same way and plugged into the same connection. Any idea why they’re running differently?

Do you have different versions of AIM?
Check your privacy setting, in the edit options section. That definitely affects the idle thing.
Thanks, that was turned off. However, I still wonder why there is a difference between “internet” and “unconfirmed internet.” Well, anyway, homework is more important.
I think “unconfirmed internet” means that you haven’t confirmed your account. Go to My AIM | Edit Options | Confirm Account.
