AP headline of the day: "Man Who Inspired B.O. Hit Skips Opening"

I’m thinking, there was a hit about B.O.? One of those Xmas novelty songs, perhaps, about Santa not wanting to come down the chimney because of someone’s socks hanging there? Then I click to read the article:

Oh, “BOX OFFICE!” Those merry elves at the AP.

Yay! I get to be the first to respond to an Eve thread.

My first thought was that one could find a B.O. hit on the “bottom shelf”. And I would rent it.

I tried to be witty, honest.

Good lord–a wisecrack about my late, lamented Movieline column? Gosh, I miss being paid for being a weisenheimer . . . Now I give it away for free . . .

Ah, this brings back memories of being a kid in the late 70’s:

“Do you have H.B.O.?”
“Yeah.”
“You have Horrible Body Odor? Hah hah!”

Come to think of it, if I inspired a hit about B.O., damned if I’d show up at the premiere, either.

Hey, those were the days when Movieline was good. I stopped my subscription three years ago when it became People lite.

I should have quit and they should have ended publishing when founder and editor Ed Margulies, who was the heart and soul (and wit) of that magazine, died in 1999. I knew it would go down the terlet with him gone, and so it did.

It did indeed, Eve, it did indeed.
