Planet Q and The Barracks are located within the larger Club 5 building. I live a few blocks from there and I do go there every so often. Ray’s is on the opposite side of town. The Rainbow Room sucks (I used to go there and since I can go pretty much anywhere and get treated like shit for free, no thanks) and The Shamrock is total college guy crowd. CE’s is a women’s bar. The Cardinal and Opus don’t involve mixing; they’re more places you go with your crowd or a date (and they aren’t especially gay).
The upshot being, I do go out and meet people. As I said, I don’t have any trouble meeting people out in public. The thing is, guys one picks up in bars aren’t interested in dating. They don’t call or return calls.
Mikie I don’t live in NYC; I was there on vacation. I could show you some places in Madison if you ever visit here.
I think I’ll switch to the Algonquin photo as my default. I have that one uploaded there too.
Otto, there are many, many men on gay.com whose pictures are much, much scarier than yours will ever be. I’ve more or less totally given up on any rooms other than the Bears and Chubby Chasers for myself. The Twink Arrogance Factor comes into play far too strongly in most of the others.
The Algonquin photo is better, btw. The lighting in the observation deck one is badly angled. (Not bad enough for no one to talk to you, I’d think, but…)
Otto, the pic from the SS looks better, but you aren’t a bad looking guy either way, again…from a hetero female perspective.

Oh my goodness, it worked! I swapped in the Algonquin picture and the very first guy I messaged contacted me back. My self esteem is just going through the roof.
Straight guy here. You look pretty scary in that first pic, on top of the tower. Like a playground stalker. The one with the statues looks pretty cool though.
Straight girl’s opinion here – the first photo isn’t as flattering (but in no way close to repulsive!!!) as some of the others. It is just a little too dull – gray skys, gray clothing, gray telescope-thingy – for my tastes. The other photos in your album are more appealing.
