June’s good. Only July is crazy. It’s just that it looks like June is bad for a fair number of people.
So far we’ve only got rubystreak actively saying June is bad – and she says she doesn’t want to have that considered a vote.
And Tris.
If we’re considering May, can we consider pushing it back to September? I know it’s the start of the school year for almost everyone, but is that a possibility?
Robin
Thanks, Pseud’, for remembering.
However, I am not going to vote, unless it is possible to create a tie by doing so!
I just love politics.
Tris
Big Fat Disclaimer: I did not attend Gettysdope this year. But, I keep threatening to, and FWIW, it would be a lot easier to make my Almost Kinda Sorta World Famousish Pierogie Casserole when it isn’t eleventy million degrees outside, because it’s very labor intensive, and also baked. So dates prior to 7/1 or after 9/15 would work really well for me. I mean, I can do July and August, but I can’t promise I won’t be gretzy, you know?
MsRobyn, September would work for my clan as well.
Actually, I was thinking of suggesting September, too. The weather should be cooler and schedules may be less crowded. May would also work for me, although the first weekend’s out.
I’ll likely attend whenever Gettysdope is scheduled for, but June and September sound better than July and August. The latter months aren’t exactly a great time for a day-long outdoor event, outside of dental floss country.
If it’s in September, depending on how much work I have, I could make it!
Shall we proceed to a vote?
Option 1: The Saturday of the weekend after Mother’s Day (May)
Option 2: The Saturday closest to the Summer Solstice (June)
Option 3: The Saturday of the weekend before the Fall Equinox (September)
Speak now…
I vote for Option 3.
#3.
#3, but a caveat from the Mister. If it’s in September, it needs to be on a Saturday. God forbid anyone disrupt his church schedule, IYKWIM.
Robin
I vote for 3.
MsRobyn, it’s always been on a Saturday. Don’t see any reason to change that. Saturdays are better for me, because it’s kind of a long drive for us, and it gives us Sunday to recover before we have to go back to work.
Oh, I know. Dave told me about it, and I’m just passing it along.
Robin
I’m gonna give half a vote each to 2 and 3. The weekend after Mother’s Day is also the weekend nearest my wedding anniversary.
All the dates sound good to me.
RT, I picked a load of ripe raspberries in the forest next to my house yesterday, and longed to know how you made that raspberry whatever-it-was you brought to Gettysburg.
Sorry I missed the last one! My buddies and I were actually within a mile of the fest, but never got there. After touring the battlefield in that brassy, stifling heat, we stopped off at a local dive for a quick one on the way to the gathering. Well… we ended up spending hours with the local colorful characters, drinking and playing darts, and didn’t crawl out of the hole until that evening.
Anyway… I vote for number three (if ya’ll will give me another chance!).
Hmph.
