Come on, Techchick, do you really think that starting a thread about this will really “pull the person out of their shell”? Let’s be realistic here, if the person was too cowardly to attach their name to the e-mail what makes you think they’ll fess up publicly (or even privately) if you start a thread complaining about the e-mail.
Listen to yourself, Techchick – and read your previous posts here. It’s not that you “could [not] give a shit” about who it is from. It’s clear you want vengance. You want whoever did this “cowardly” act publicly shamed and flogged. You want the admins to do something about it, like banning the person (though I don’t see anything about not sending name-blocked e-mails in the registration agreement, except to the extent it violates “don’t be a jerk”).
Don’t feed us a line about just wanting to know the person’s name and that’ll be enough.
Yep. The sender of the e-mail is doing what’s known in the business as “trolling.” And you know what, it’s working better than he or she could have ever expected.
I don’t think it’s about me. I publicly made my response to your comments about Satan in the ATMB thread. If you compare those comments to the e-mail you received, you can see some obvious differences in style and tone, not to mention content.
Let’s look at the anonymous e-mail you recieved: “You are a fool. And defending Satan was just the most recent example. All your pouting threads mad me gag.”
If that was the content, you’re certainly making a mountain out of a molehill. What did this person call you: a fool, pouting, and making him or her gag. That’s weak stuff even on a slow day in the Pit.
You should realize that whenever you post a thread, wherever you post a thread, it’ll drift. You’ve been around here enough to know that if someone posts something in an OP it’s just about as likely for the thread to disagree with the OP as it is for it to agree. As much as you wish it, you simply cannot prevent a thread from turning around and biting you on the ass.
What’s particularly galling is that the people in this thread were trying to be helpful to you. We all saw it as a minor annoyance that you should ignore. Rather than respecting this advice, you lash out at anyone who does not think that the sender should be strung up by the balls.
Techchick, this message board can be a rough and tumble place. Sometimes there’ll be dirty elbows when the refs aren’t looking. If you can’t take a little cheap shot once in a while, and can’t deal with those of us who suggest you just dust yourself off and keep playing, then perhaps you should consider whether you should be in the arena at all.
