OK folks, someone using the name Sarah has IMed a bunch of people on aol and told them that I was sad and needed a friend, my email is running over with all types of kind souls, wanting to help.
This isn’t funny. I’m answering these peoples emails and letting them know they have been the victims of a horrible joke.
I don’t know who did this, but since I use the deb_free email only for SDMB and the freebie sites I go to, I have my suspicions.
I hope some of the folks who have gotten these messages report the sender.
Someone has put out a bunch of the SDMB members emails
out with a message for people to please cheer us up because we are sad and depressed.
My basic answer was-
Thank you, but I have to tell you, I have gotten about 20 other emails like this tonight, someone has played a horrible joke on you and I and at least 20 other people by putting the email addresses out.
I am not sad or depressed. I don’t know any Sarah.
I am so so sorry someone used a nice person like yourself for such a bad joke.

Well, put me down as having gotten the e-mails as well.
I’ve checked a couple of Pit threads so far, but can’t find any in which we’re all listed, so I’m less inclined to think that it’s just X-fool or Red Bullshit going through and spamming those that posted to a thread denouncing them.
Well good morning my fellow "my ass has been spamed"ers.
I know from the header on all the emails I got that there are alot of us who got these emails.
I feel bad for the people who sent them, I think most of them were trying to be nice and reach out to people they thought were hurting.
Whoever pulled this should be ashamed of themselves for using people that way.
But then again, why should I expect such an idiot to feel shame for their actions ?
I think it’s probably someone who we have all pissed off over a period of time, in a lot of different threads.
The joke’s on them, Some of these people kept the messages they got and wrote me back after I answered them saying they were going to report that idiot to aol.
Therefore it is very possible that our brainless wonder won’t have internet access for very long.
I don’t know if this is round two, or people who didn’t hear about us poor sad depressed people until today. I got some more, here is the reply I have started using for this. My fingers are tired, so I am just going to use this copy and paste for all of them.

None of us are sad or depressed. We all post on the
same message board, and there has been an infestation
of trolls there. We evidently made one of them angry
and they did this to “get even”.
You may hear from aol soon, as I am filing a complaint
with them about this person. Not against you but
against whoever started this mess.

Ayesha, are you sure all of these emailers are innocent? The wording on each message seems a little too similar to me.
I am unknowledgeable in the ways of AOL. Is it possible for a person to have or access a shitload of user names there?
The thought that someone is going through all that effort for something so mildly irritating, that can be eradicated with a simple ‘select all’ and ‘trash,’ is more than a little eerie …

Milossarian, I don’t know. I’m trying to be nice to them in case they have all been used by an idiot, but then too, why would someone think this manny people were depressed at the same time ? And that we would all know the same person ?

Strange shit alright! I have only been here like, 10 minutes, definitely not long enough to get someone THIS pissed at me. And as honored as I am to be included in a group that includes Osip, John Corrado, and Ayesha, this is pretty annoying. I’m looking forward to seeing how all this plays out.
By the way this is the Pit so we better get nasty!
