Apple. IOS. iTunes. Whatever. Here we fucking go again.

As I have mentioned before, I have this love/hate relationship with my iPhone. Latest update changed my settings…again. Minor shit, I know, but why do you have to switch my fucking bluetooth on?

But wait, there’s more. My Uber and Whatsapp alerts are now identical, and I seem to have no fucking way to change them.

Arseholes.

I can’t seem to sync my iPod anymore. I’ve googled and tried those fixes, no luck. Off to the Apple store after work.

Settings - Bluetooth - on

Every time I read one of these threads, it confirms that Apple products break, fuck up, or get fucked up by stupid users at the same rate as all competing products. It’s just that Apple users have a big brother to go whine at and fix it for them. And then they stroll out of the Genius Bar full of themselves and how smart they are…

Well, I didn’t need Big Brother. I authorized my work computer (don’t worry, IT said it was okay) and redownloaded my library. All set!

Bet your “work computer” doesn’t have partly-eaten fruit on it.

I’ve noticed that the more advanced my iPhone gets … the less useful it becomes … I’m absolute sure the next one I get will need an app to function as a telephone … through the Cloud via my TV’s wifi link …

Call me old fashioned but I don’t like my refrigerator and telephone talking about me behind my back.

Even easier: swipe up from bottom of screen - push Bluetooth icon.

To the OP, you should be able to change all the app alert sounds via settings/notifications.

That’s what I also thought, and kinda the reason for my rant. You can’t change the settings as they’ve been defaulted to one sound. The only way to change them is to do a hard reboot (holding down the home key and the off key simultaneously for about 10 secs). Once rebooted your original settings (pre-update) are restored.

Regarding Bluetooth, yes, it’s easy to switch off. But that’s not the annoying part. To me it’s a question of personal choices, and a puzzling irony. Bluetooth’s security issues are well documented. So too is the common refrain - switch off Bluetooth when not in use. l very, very rarely use Bluetooth, and as such it is almost permanently switched off.

The irony is that many Apple upgrades are supposedly “to increase your security”. If that’s the case, then why leave my phone exposed to a breach via Bluetooth? I shouldn’t have to check all my existing security settings after an upgrade.

One thing that really drove me up the wall last iPhone I had, was that thing of generic alert sounds. Apple’s decision is to leave it to developers to put a “change alert sound” function in their app, and developers being almost universally lazy it means most apps default to TriTone with no way of changing it. Seem to recall this goes for Gmail, even.
