Thanks for that! I wish I had been posting then to see what idiot things I might have said. In two years when the iTablet comes out we’ll see!
People seemed just as skeptical back then! They turned out to be right, too. Tied to ATT(Cingular)? Sucks. Closed system? Pretty much.
Some people are pretty consistent.

I watched them and I think it made me go limp.
I fail to see what’s caused the massive orgy regarding this - the touchscreen interface works just like any other interface I’ve seen, except gasp the buttons can be pressed by touching the screen.
Meh.

Red_Barchetta:
Apple has jumped-the-shark. What a disappointment. An over-sized iPod touch that is neither as useful or practical as an iPhone and not any more portable than a Macbook Air.
This device does not fill a need, nor even do anything new. What a complete waste of space–it took this this long to come up with this? Wow…
Then:
For me it’s less about what it does, and more about how it does it. Not to mention, I’m a sucker for quality, style and well thought out design.
That said, it does a lot, and does it like no one has ever seen before. They way all the features interact with each other, and the interface changes with the current content. the transitions and ease of use. The multi-touch scrolling/pinching/zooming/resizing. I can’t wait to see what third part devs will create for this thing. If you’re a nay-sayer, i think you’re out of your mind. Watch the mini videos apple has on their site vignetting all of the features. Full-on techno-lust.

While I’ll be very curious to see what the actual product turns out to be, I’m afraid I’m just not in the market for anything like this. My wife and I already have an iPhone 3GS, a MacBook for the family, and my own Mac Pro. And, I just got a Kindle.
I’m pretty much all set in the computer department. I’m sure it’ll be sexy as hell, and have a bunch of cool features that’ll make owning one tempting, but I just can’t see any real need for myself, and I say that as a huge, longtime Mac fan.
Mangeout appears to have been won over (a little bit).

It’s nice; certainly seems like most of the functions have been nicely polished - it’s just polish though, not really a revolution - in any case, I think it will be a big hit. I don’t particularly want one though.

And my favorite: MacTech. He is FINALLY getting exactly what he asked for. I hope he posts in here, because it is kind of cool that this is exactly what he wanted.

however, there are seriously cool features on the iPhone, the motion sensors, touchscreen, and the fact that it’s running OS X is killer, heck, all they need to do is scale up the size of the iPhone and they’ll have their tablet computer, now that i’d buy
