Predictions for the final three?
Troy

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. What he said last night about ‘spending $10 to wash a used car before selling it’ - man, truer words were never spoken.
He understands that image does count, and attention to detail is important. Doesn’t mean you can slough off on the content, of course. But sometimes I think people overlook the obvious.
Hmm:
Troy
Amy
Nick
Nick really impressed me when he was project manager.
I am interested in what sort of projects they will have when you get down to 2-2. Or maybe they will consolidate into one team when they get down to a certain number of people?
Yup. I’d buy that. And I think Troy will win.
It was tough for me to choose between Nick and Bill; ultimately, as much of a great worker Nick is, I think Bill shows more good ideas and leadership qualities. But that pouty episode he took in the Planet Hollywood episode worries me.
Troy just looks the part, doesn’t he? I can see him doing the job.
In defence of Katrina’s contention that she was duped -
Troy promised to put down which apartment he wanted. Katrina trusted him and put down which one she wanted. By not stating which apartment he wanted, she was left with her pants down. That was not fair.
That said, we knew that Troy knew which apartment she wanted. As a joke, he put down that he wanted what she wanted - knowing that he, in fact, did. From his side, ya it’s kinda funny. However, from her side, ignorant that he knew which one she wanted, he tricked (or duped) her, causing her to show her cards. I’d be kinda pissed if someone did that to me. They did have an agreement, after all.
That’s what I don’t get. So she ‘showed her cards’. I still don’t get Katrina’s gripe. In fact, I don’t understand the whole ‘negotiation’ thing to begin with. I agree with Troy; the ‘writing it on a piece of paper’ was grade school stuff. Not something I can see a Trump associate doing on a business deal.
Two apartments, two people. What difference does it make when either of them knew that they both wanted the same apartment?!? What difference does it make if Troy ‘knew’ which one Katrina wanted before Katrina ‘knew’ which one Troy wanted? What would have changed if Troy had written down the same apartment Katrina wrote down? NOT A DAMN THING! This wasn’t some sort of secret bidding or something.
She wanted a specific apartment; if Troy wanted the other one, great, if he wanted the same one she was going to have to negotiate for it. She didn’t, and allowed it to go to a coin toss. She had the experience in the industry; she should have known what she could negotiate away (i.e., the base price, whatever). She didn’t do that. Troy didn’t have the experience, so removing Katrina’s experience from the equation (i.e. getting down to a coin flip) was the best he could hope for - and that’s exactly what he did.
Katrina didn’t get ‘duped’ at all. She didn’t step up to the plate at all, and allowed the choice go down to dumn luck instead of asserting any sort of expertise. Landing the general contractors was a great move, but allowing Bill to handle the negotiations was another move that had me shaking my head. This should have been Katrina’s moment to shine, but she didn’t impress me at all.
She was just lucky there was an even bigger ass on her team…
Katrina was not duped, you guys. Didn’t she make that perfectly clear? While she was busy not letting it go? Loudly?
Tammy, Tammy, Tammy. What game was she playing? It’s like she hauled out a Monopoly board at a poker tournament. I think she would’ve been fired any week she got into the boardroom, and she’s been lucky to be on the winning team every week so far.
She’s also proof that you can win every task and not be a particularly strong candidate. Success in this game comes from more than winning challenges. In fact, I think losing a challenge but performing well during the competition and in the boardroom may serve you better down the line. Trump gives feedback, and the good players learn from it.
Also, , I am apparently Jessie, which surprises me little. (Except she’s cuter than I am, and my voice isn’t as annoying.)
Heh. Good one.
I’m Bill.
On the surface, it seems like a dirty trick, and I wanted to feel sorry for Katrina (and in fact was rooting for her team to win that challenge for that reason alone). However, after having given it some further thought, I think Troy was brilliant and Katrina was completely incompetent.
Troy was smart enough to know and “read” his competition. He knew she was the professional in that field and whatever property she wanted was, of course, the one he should want, too. He paid attention and she was foolish enough not to be paying attention to him, so he overheard her tell her team which apartment she wanted.
Secondly, it was “grade school” to write down their choices and trade pieces of paper. And what he wrote wasn’t at all a dupe, because he already knew which apartment she wanted and therefore wanted the same – which is exactly what he wrote. What difference would it have made if he had written down “I want the $1,200 property”? Ok, so then she’d know they want the same one. How would they be in any different negotiating place than where they were with him merely saying, “I want what you want”? They wouldn’t, that’s how.
Alright, so his “game” was as silly as hers, but now they’re both aware they want the same apartment. Where was the actual negotiation that she should have been so skilled at in order to convince him to give it up?? Why didn’t she just say to him, “Troy, I want the smaller apartment. Obviously that means I think it’s worth more, so I’m sure you’ll want it, too. What would it take for you to take on the larger, more expensive property?”
Everybody has a price. Even if he wasn’t forthcoming with anything right off the bat, she could then start making offers. Offer to pay to hire a contractor for their unit, knowing you’ll have to push your own team harder to do the work themselves, but needing to give up something to get what you want. Offer to pay their advertising costs for their unit (which is really a non-offer, but sounds like you’re making a sacrifice). And if he still won’t budge, offer to take the larger unit yourself, if he’ll kick in all the things you just offered him for it!
Instead of deciding what she was willing to sacrifice in order to make Troy think he was getting the better deal, or to try to get him to give something up for her to take the other unit, she got all shrieky and emotional, literally forcing them into yet another childish game, tossing a coin. She’s a tool. She did a terrible job at what is supposed to be her forte!
If I were Donald Trump and I saw that that was how she attempted to outsmart her opponent in a negotiation, I wouldn’t hire her to clean up after my dog.
Yeah, but only after Katrina practically had a tantrum to get him to do the silly write-it-on-paper thing in the first place. Troy figured, fine, you want to treat me like a five-year-old? I’ll be a five-year-old.
The more I think about Katrina’s shrieky, overbearing manner and super-inflated view of herself, the more I think she should’ve been sent packing. Didn’t Tammy spearhead the phallic ad campaign that won?
if Katrina had any kind of brians she would have picked the apartment she didn’t want when Troy wrote “i want what you want” on the paper exchange.
Yay! I’m Troy! Now he has to win.
I’ve been rooting for Troy ever since the show started, and I thought he was great last night. I came online hoping to find some explanation of what terrible unethical thing he did to Katrina, because I certainly didn’t see it.
I think that many of the challenges relied on luck, particularly the last two, where the teams were given two different options to start with, and never really had an equal chance of succeeding. But even though like any reality show it has only a very tenuous relationship with reality, it’s still incredibly entertaining to watch.
ooops ‘brains’ is spelled wrong :smack:
I thought the exact same thing. It seemed very contrived. She just happens to walk in and agree to a price with very little negotiating. Yeah, right.
Me too! And I concur.
I’m Troy Too.
Does the show run at any other hour? because I keep getting scheduled to work during Thursday evenings.
A buddy of mine mentioned that he caught a rerun of last week’s episode on MSNBC, but I’m sorry I don’t have a time or day for you.
NBC airs reruns of every episode on the following Wednesday. So next Wednesday you can see last night’s episode. (Click the link for the schedule.)
