At this point, I saw a way to get 5 quarters, and that is the goal I am after now.

Nice work getting 5 quarters Meeko. Out of curiousity what did you bid for the quarters and silver dollar. I bid a point under the worth of each coin.
I think I managed to jump into 3rd and may have caught second as well.
I just checked and Meeko has 758 posts so far. The next highest is NAF with 211. I’m sure some people have had more posts in a given thread but I doubt the ratio has ever been that high.
Who had more posts total than Meeko in this thread? If time is taken into consideration, it’s even more stunning!

If you click on the post count on the game room page it brings up a new page of number of post per poster and if you click on the number of posts it will bring up each post by that poster. It’s a great trick for mafia games.

I figured that was the problem.

That is to say, that only you and I made 2nd place bids in the auction.
I largely saw the auction as a place for you [Digger] to cover major ground. I knew that you had a 25% bonus on your items.
I basically “did the math” on it, and went for middle ground between us on the Dollar.
In itself, I knew it was a risk. That is why I went lowball on the Dime and Penny.
I figured no one would want the dime or penny that much, and I needed to pull points from those bids to (in theory) cover my Dollar.
If you wanted to pay higher than me, then I wasnt going to argue the point, you paid well for the dollar. However, I was going to make you pay for it. I Wasn’t going to roll over.
If I Was the highest bidder, then I knew I wouldn’t pay what I put up. I split the difference, and then rounded to the next highest. Again, you were never to pay the price you put up.
On the quarters, my Idea actually came up in spades. I bid one OVER the price. I wanted quarters, and I Didn’t want anyone else to get them.
As it was, you guys bid close, but didn’t meet the break even rate. Therefore, I Was able to make a profit on the quarters, if you look at them by themselves.
I really, really, actually just wanted to spoil the auction and break even on the items
Keep them from other players.
Granted, NAF pulled a very good, well timed fast one on me. (Digger, take lessons from him.) But, as I do my math, I came out of the auction at EXACTLY 0.
So in the context of JUST the auction, I more or less just knocked out 3 of the items from play, correct?
Oh, and I Was able to pull 8 back out of the Fire yet again.
Granted I paid more than I should to have pulled it off, but I did it. I never would have thought that possible, the second after I broke the rule wide open.
We know first was long gone. But hopefully, you saw my LONG post on why I love playing Haggle. Getting 5 Quarters truly is a victory for me. provided how many times I spoiled it.

I’ve thought about this with you, Meeko.
The thing is, you might be scum or you might not be in Mafia. Either way, you have to be…calm in Mafia to survive. If you are super aggressive and express every suspicion, people might kill you.
Besides, the last Mafia game I was in lasted nearly 2 months. Maintaining your kind of post count for that long is…borderline crazy.
If you remember not everyone is as dedicated to the game as you and post less and stay calm, then you could make it in a Mafia game.
