Always a good thing. I never said I stopped playing when I set off to be the copper queen. 
I do not play MTG. I wasn’t ever into games where you have to buy additional pieces along the way. It always struck me as a huge scam. I am told it is actually tons of fun, but really I think I am past the point of getting into it.
Mafia is…closer to risk I suppose, though I tend to think of it like team chess*. The big thing for me about mafia is that it’s a team game. Your side is only as good as its weakest link so both sides spend all their time trying to create the best position for their team in the early game. At the same time it’s a game of deception and analysis. One side tries to seem like they are hunting the scum while the other side tries to find the scum by figuring out who isn’t actually trying to find scum. So you have these two opposing ideas on both sides. For town, you need to find reasons to kill people and potentially weaken your team or the scum side wins. For scum you need to hurt your team enough that you aren’t caught but not so much that you let town win. And that balance creates a tension that is really a lot of fun if the game is well put together, and because of the human element the game is more than the sum of its parts. A fantastically designed game can fall flat if the players aren’t into it. The group playing is every bit as important as the game setup. A good game of mafia is freaking brilliant though. The game that just ended on Giraffe boards was one of the best games I have seen in a long long time.
Haggle is a different kind of fun because its every man for himself. So you get to kind of cut lose a bit.
*note: I have spent more time than I am readily willing to admit thinking about mafia over the last 3 years. I am not allowed to talk about it at home anymore, my wife gets pissed. She used to think it was cute, then she thought it was geeky, then she thought it was competition for her love. :o

I don’t have my notes, but you are behind both sinjin and Digger. If I remember correctly sinjin, Digger, and Mahaloth are all neck and neck and you are a bit farther behind but not much. I think you are all over 200 points right now, and my last trade with you, I think, put you into the 240 range.

FWIW : Phi2Dao had the rule you needed Sinjin. Another Active player currently has the other.

What’s it worth? 
Meeko, I believe there is still a slot or two in the Mafia game. I know it’s not the friendliest game for newbies, but it doesn’t look horribly complicated or bad for new players.
As long as you try to not overwhelm the conversation, you should do fine.

I have a script frenzy write-in tonight, so the final results will probably be late, unless we agree on an early end-of-game before I leave work.
Hey MHaye, want to give me a free peak at the rule that would let me know how coins are actually valued, if you have it. I did after all facilitate your getting your goal of 17/17.
I thought I had the values close to figured out by doing reverse calculations of NAF’s and digger’s 220 portfolio value on page 31, but I can’t reconcile that with digger’s saying mine is worth 254. But then again I couldn’t exactly reconcile NAf’s: 220 - 45 = 175 for digger’s base and then 175 x 1.25 = 220 either. Anyway, I’m going nuts here running calculations.
Chrisk: I’m cool with ending the game early. It doesn’t look like anyone is trading anymore.
I’d like to make some more trades since I have run my score updater. Unfortunatly I paid too much for my bid. I am still in 4th 1 point behind Mahaloth and 7 behind sinjin. Sin I’ve got you at 250.
