Aqua Team Hunger Force Colon Movie Film

I really enjoyed it, then again I’m a pretty big ATHF fan. One of the best parts was at the beginning, talking about obeying the rules in the theater.

Lots of characters, though I was bummed Happy Time Harry wasn’t in there somewhere (I imagine he was too busy knife fighting Crazy Homeless Guy in the local drunk tank) anybody else catch Jerry Garcia (the onion monster) pop up when the insaneoflex ripped off their roof?

It’s out? Oooh yeah, gonna go see this. When come back, will bring pie.

You got the name of the movie wrong!

I’m a little ashamed to say I still haven’t seen it, but I plan to in the next week or so.

Anyone else who has seen it have any comments?

I want to go see the movie so I can wear my “I heart meatwad” t-shirt (where meatwad is in the shape of a heart) :o

You mean Willie Nelson?

As much as I like the ATHF shorts, I’m not sure I want to see the movie all that bad. At least, not in the theater. I admit it, I’m one of those people who balks at paying almost $10.00 to see a TV show on the big screen. I think I’ll put it in the Netflix queue with the Reno 911 movie.

Is there a member here named Meatwad? 'Cuz that’d be pretty funny.

Well, anyway, his accomplice Frylock is correct: The (very funny) full title of the film is Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters. (It took me a while to realize “colon” is to take the place of the punctuation mark and not a reference to the body part.)

The opening had me laughing so hard I was crying. A strong opening, but something of a weak finish. All in all, though, I loved it.

Yeah, Willie Nelson did make an appearance on the roof.

I have the stupid Insanoflex song stuck in my head now though.

I remember laughing my ass off a few years ago when the show just came out (Mooninites, Wooo!), but I caught a new episode a few weeks ago and didn’t even giggle. I’m not sure if my sense of humor has changed since college, or the show has gotten stale, but how is the movie compared to the show?

Compared to what I think is funny in the show: Not enough Carl and Mooninites. Too much Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future and Plutonians. Carl does play a pivotal role in the movie, but there just wasn’t enough of his dialogue or the Mooninites, IMO.

Yeah, I have to say I was mostly disappointed. The opening thing was brilliant and awesome but mostly the rest of the movie suffered from what has happened to the show: they’ve decided that witty nutty dialog needs to take a back seat to just pure randomness and poop jokes and the “it was funny once or twice, but not anymore guys” long drawn out pauses or pointless repititions. There were some good bits, but nothing anywhere approaching the genius of the best shows.

Worst of all was Meatwad, who is just the funniest and most unique character of the series, just not having a lot to do or to say.

There was really nothing much in it that is going to win over new fans (unless you’ve already seen the show, this is not a great introduction to it), and nothing really that’s going to make old fans think “they still got it.” After the Boston scare, it would have been nice if they had pulled out a really awesome movie to naysayers. Not even close.

I wonder if this is going to set Cartoon Network back in the movies like the Powerpuff Girls movie did.

Anyway I had lots of laughs but it clearly wasn’t as great as some of the early episodes like Balloonenstein. It definitely needed more Carl. I would have brought back some of their other guest stars like Mothmonsterman. They probably would have been better off without a plot.

You know what’s weird? I don’t recall seeing either Carl’s pool or car.
Shake’s line about his daddy just killed me though.

I thought the opening segment with the Mastadon song was AWESOME, evidently so did the rest of the theatre. Everyone clapped for a good couple of minutes after it was over. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.

The rest of the movie was okay, I enjoyed it because I really enjoy the show, but I agree that it could have been better. But I personally think the opening song was worth the $7 alone. I want to go back just to see that.

Seriously. There was no reason for a plot, even the fairly random plot. The show has always been best with them just shooting the shit around carl’s pool. The watermelon thing was not funny even once. The robot was mostly unintelligible in a theater for some reason. Carl spent most of the movie screaming instead of talking. Meatwad, as I said had very few lines in the end, no real good bits.

I have the stupid Insanoflex song stuck in my head now though.

“I like your booty, but I’m not gay.” Amazing song. Even more amazing as it plays while the Insanoflex is stomping the “biggest loser” to a bloody pulp in the workout video. Loved the opening too and the crazily convoluted revelations at the end. And the updated ATHF theme was heavenly. The only thing I found a bit lame was the FBI agents shooting up Lincoln’s lair–it went on too long.
