Arab gas increases = potential 'final' war?

It’s their oil, isn’t it?
Peace,
mangeorge

Why do you think that? I wrote a long post on why you’re wrong, but I decided to delete it, so I can just ask: why do you think Israel is a threat to world peace?

“Don’t Do It.”

I’m hardly an expert on this, but it seems to me that the US is not in a bad spot.

We suck up OPEC oil, but we still have plenty left here (i.e. we’re exhausting Middle-Eastern resources, not our own). Plus, I think GM has just started producing a hybrid gas/electric car which will get 70mpg. If prices continue to rise, we can just accelerate production of such vehicles and cut back demand.

In the end, OPEC will be passe and the rest of the world will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Hardly. They’ve got enough money and holdings to outlast any of our lifetimes. They just want more. An admirable goal.

You have a point there. Oh well… at least we can go about feeling superior and what-not.

Incredible, I have not seen so much stupidity in a single OP in quite a long while. Miera, you’re dead on. The market will take care of this, there is oil in plenty of places around the world beyond the Arabic peninsula. If oil reamins scarce then we can leave oil resources with technology such as hybrid cars, although I personally am going with the former. Or maybe that’s just the experience I have had with those Al Gore, save the rain forest, eco wennies.

You know, doing what is right is easy. The problem is knowing what is right.

Beacause USA have almot every time supported Israel in the wars that they had with the arab nations. Israel have behaved in a very arrogant way and they uses the Holocaust for all it’s worth. Making Europeans and Americans feel quilty (and this is a fact).
I’ve heard resently that the Americans just have sold plenty high-tec weaponds to Israel, and that’s maybe one of the reasons why the arabic nations are scepic to US. They’re real enemy is Israel. If Israel didn’t got all the money support from US and Europe they would have been a part of the third world instead of the first world. And about Israel leaving Lebanon: -just talk. Israel behavior is almost as bad as the nazis in the 40’s. (an exaggeration, but worth a thought)

My question to you: Are you from Israel ?

Because Fido ate the Hand Grenade for me,
When the Tans came round to search the house at tea,
I said, “Take this, dog, and eat”,
He thought it was a can of meat,
It was the hand grenade that Fido ate for me.

Possession is nothing a war couldn’t fix and means little in world politics. Who doesn’t think we’ll take Kuwait if it gets bad enough?

Oh, what the hell. . .
Orion:

Well, y’know, they are our allies.

Perhaps. But do you at least concede that the Holocaust was a pretty nasty bit of business? I would certainly hope so.

Right. And as nations, the US and most European countries acted pretty crappily and deserve to feel guilty.

Go back a bit, to where I pointed out that Israel & the US are allies.

Ya think?

And if you would read history, you would realize that the existence of Israel as a nation is due to the UN (I think). They pretty much started out with all of the support that you are decrying. To reiterate: Israel would never have been a third world nation.

It is unfortunate that price of oil dictates US foreign policy. It might even be more unfortunate that environmental impact of the use of fossil fuels does not have the same weight.

We should be looking for greener, renewable energy, regardless of what OPEC does or does not do.

Nothing is so bad that it can’t get worse.

First let me ask: are you a jew ?
About the holocaust: Terrible yes, but It does not deserve such a huge part in modern history as it have today. It’s blown out of proportions.
What about the indians in South america which where killed (and I believe that they still are murdered in some countries).

About the “our allies” and “high tec weapons”: US seems to have many allies these days, and many enemies. And some of they’re allies seems to be some of the Arab countries as well (Am I right). The answer you gave in “our allies” is one of the dumbes answers I’ve got. Does this mean that US will support them matter what they decide ? (the israelis hav nuclear weapons, don’t you know)
I’m not against every interference by US, but it was a bit harder in the Kosovo & Bosnian chrisis, or what ? It was no oil to protect there, just humans, right! The americans lost 0 in combat in Kosovo, and an insignificant number in the gulf-war. Yet they act like an atomic bomb was dropped on them. There are infact some more nations that contributes to these wars as well.

“Making Europeans and Americans to feel guilty”
Now, they should not. This happend for about 60 years ago and (many generations) most people who lives today was born after wwii. Even today the jews claims mony from countries, corporations etc. They uses this tragedy for more than it’s worth, if you ask me.

“If you read history you will know”
I know, I know. I have read history from the first sivilisation arised to magna carta, UN, cold war, Sadat, Tsjernobyl, etc.

“Israel haved been part of third world”
Maybe an exaggeration, but not far from the truth.

You seems to have been trapped in they’re holocaust-trap my friend. Feeling guily ?

Orion:

First, let me tell you that whether or not I am Jewish has no bearing on this debate at all. D’you have any other diversionary tactics to try? Because if so, let’s just get them the hell out of the way now.

Why do you feel that it should not play such a large part in contemporary history? And how, exactly, do you feel it is blown out of proportion? Also, yes, Indians are still killed in S America. Weren’t we talking about Israel?

I dunno. A better question for you to ask is, “Did that last posting I made make any fucking sense whatsoever?”

Oh, the horror! An individual who posts absolute nonsense considers my answer “one of the dumbes”. I suppose I must concede, then.

Obviously, the US has not supported Israel in every decision that they make. Does the name Sheinbein jog your memory? Also, if you have absolute proof of Israel’s nuclear first strike capability, then there are many folk who will want to talk to you. Personally, I believe that Israel has had that capability for a while, but I do not claim that my beliefs are absolutely true. You might wanna look into that, Sparky.

No, just those that support Israel. Whyever might that be?

(nonsense about Kosovo and The Gulf War, mercifully, snipped here)

Which is precisely why nobody asked you. Your thoughts have a tendency to come out reading like childish nonsense.

Also, most of the folk I know who actually went to the trouble of studying history and are able to speak on it with any degree of expertise, also know rudimentary punctuation and spelling. So forgive me if I think that you are being less than forthright in, well, everything you say.

And another thing. . .I am not now, nor will I ever be, your friend. You are a reprehensible creature, with reprehensible thoughts.

Waste
Flick Lives!

First of all, the fact that an estimated nine million people (not all of whom were Jewish, BTW), means that it should never be forgotten. Calling attention to the Holocaust doesn’t mean that the decimation of the Indians in S. America any less of a tragedy, either, you moron. And would you mind a little capitalization and spell checking in your post, ass-face? My fourth grade Girl Scouts can write more clearly than you do.

The Jews (here, I refer to the living survivors of the Holocaust) are merely asking for a return of the property that was taken from them (and held in Swiss banks, etc.) No different than getting your car ripped off, finding it in a used-car lot, proving it is yours (with VIN#), and demanding it back.

I’m not a Jew, but you’re a damn anti-Semitic troll.

[Moderator Hat ON]

Watch it with the insults, guys, or I’ll have to toss this in the Pit.

[Moderator Hat OFF]

Y’know, Gaudere, I’ve seen that moderator hat. And having done so, I find it very hard to take you at all seriously.

What? I’m just saying, is all. . .

I still wish that Perot had been elected and had gotten to raise his proposed gas tax of $0.40/gal.

Thank you, inertiacakes.

I know you guys, you’re trying to tempt me into a hijack so I’ll look hypocritical for hassling Lib about the same thing! Well, I can tell you, that just won’t work with me, I’m far too clever to be taken in so easily, you sneaks…eh? Oops. Guess I just did hijack. I now return you to Orion’s scarcely coherent and misspelling-filled rambling about Israel. Better watch out for him, though; after all, he’s “read history from the first sivilisation arised to magna carta, UN, cold war, Sadat, Tsjernobyl, etc.”!

Hell yes

just ask me some questions
