I remember watching an episode of Home Movies once where Coach McGuirk is hitting on the new school nurse, talking about how he has some arabica coffee at home which is supposed to be hallucinogenic. That’s the only instance I’ve heard of it being hallucinogenic, so I’m pretty sure it’s not really, but surely the writers didn’t just make that up. So anyone have any idea where they might’ve gotten the idea from, and does it hold any truth?
Arabica is just a variety of coffee. The most common variety, if I recall correctly. Most high-end coffee is from arabica plants.
Though I hear some coffee drinkers let their beans sit for a while and mold a touch–it’s concievable that the mold could be hallucinogenic. Or just disgusting. I guess it’s a matter of chance.
