Let’s get into it, break it down, and solve this damn thing once and for all.

Archie Andrews. He must choose between Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge for all time. (leave Cheryl Blossom out of it. She is a travesty to Archie Comic lovers everywhere)

Do not tell me which girl is best for YOU or best for SOCIETY…tell me which is best for ARCHIE ANDREWS, comic entity.

Let’s see what we’ve got.

Betty Cooper: Cute, athletic, smart, can fix cars, is a great cook, adores Archie like a brow beaten puppy, good family, twirls the baton and is a cat owner. She’s also, like Veronica so wisely noted “such a cornball”. She’s a puss, she’s goody goody and 24/7 giggly optimistic, and you know that’s got to get annoying.

Veronica Lodge: Gorgeous, international model, rich as anything, skiier, great body, ultra feminine, seductive, and here’s what’s important: wanted by all the boys. She’s also selfish, and materialistic, and pessimistic, but clearly more of a realist than Archie, more “of the world”, more adventurous and exotic.

I still would go with Betty I think…but I think she’s a gall you’d get tired of…pronto.

Why do ya think hot indie chicks are called betty’s? It’s not from Betty Page, or from Betty Rubble (although they’re both hotties in their own right). Veronica’s a bitch. No one wants to live with a bitch, except fictional characters like Niles Crane.

I really don’t think that Veronica’s a bitch. She’s a teenager, remember. Clothes and makeup and boys are the most important things in her life RIGHT now. Betty’s a mousy cornball.

Veronica will grow up to be a woman of the world.

I predict everyone will give the same answer I’m giving: Betty.

Who would want Veronica? I challenge the assertion that Archie will grow tired of Betty. She’s a rough and tumble girl. But I further assert that Veronica would tire of Archie before too long.

They’re all wrong for each other. Veronica would try to change Archie; she’d buy him a Lamborghini but he’d keep driving his old jalopy. She would ask her dad to put him on the board of his corporation, but Archie just wants to play baseball.

Betty accepts Archie for who he is. And she’ll go down on him.

I think people will all say betty, too, but that’s because they’re lying to themselves and US.

I seriously doubt that Betty will go down on Archie. She goes out on weekends and reads books to old people. She volunteers at the hospital…she works at the Big Sisters program. She is a freaking NUN. A little too serious for a teenager.

And let’s face it. Veronica is HOT. Way hot. White hot. She doesn’t care what people think of her, she just does her own thing. That’s today’s modern woman.

No way! ‘Ronnie’ is going to use sex as a tool of manipulation and greed on poor Archie. And she is a bitch. Seriously. Betty genuinely likes Archie, doesn’t see him as a prize. That’s good sex. Veronica sees Archie as a toy she wants… and as we all know most people get tired of their toys after a while.

Years ago, I dated a Veronica. What a flurking bitch. I’m now married to a Betty, and have no regrets. Besides, I’ll bet Betty swallows AND will do anal.

About 10 years ago there was a TV movie about the gang from Riverdale High. The only thing I remember about it was Betty ripping open her shirt, hopping on archie and saying “I want to be bad. Teach me how to be bad!”

That settled it for me. Then and forever more.

Why should Archie choose? He can have his glamour girl and call on his lap dog whenever he needs her.

With just a little cajoling he could have them both! At the same time! Betty’ll do it-- all Archie has to do is ask. Ronnie will do it if Archie can convince her it’s the “in” thing to do.

Afterwards Betty will write in her diary about how giving she was to Archie and how she thinks Archie really digs her now. Veronica will put the incident on her resume.

Sorry, jarbabyj. While I’m willing to acknowledge we can have differences of opinion on some matters, in this one you’re just plain wrong.

Veronica conforms in every way to the stereotype of the JAP. She would give Archie sex like she’s doing him a favor, and would not engage in any practices that threatened to smear her makeup.

Betty, on the other hand, may seem virginal and innocent, but at the end of the day she is eager, eager to please. She’ll give Archie anything he wants, and I daresay Archie’s imagination in bed will fail before hers does.

Biggirl, I think the premise of this thread is that one day Archie will have to make a choice. Life is, after all, about choices, and in the long run no man can have his Kate and Edith too.

But Fiver my answer was designed to show my disdain for both Betty and Veronica. Archie shouldn’t choose between the bitch and the lap dog. When life comes around to Riverdale I hope there will be something better to choose from.

I believe that the men of the world and indeed America today have been conditioned by our PC society to say that they’d pick a boring, mousy, makeup less, jeans wearing girl over a supermodel any day. And I really don’t believe it’s true.

When I was little (And still today) I wanted to be Veronica, rich, beautiful, limitless possibilities of places to go, things to do…a bottomless wardrobe, a spa in my basement. I wanted boys to flock at my feet and to find me desireable. I never wanted to be the girl in the background who guys said “She’s a good gal. A great friend”

I WAS BETTY. It’s not as cute and fun as it sounds.

Why does everyone keep making a big deal about which one is more attractive, physically? I always thought they were like Disney women: same body, different heads. They even have the same face!

Ho! in my village, we would put such girl-wimmons to work in fields and see who is most value-productive. Then, village wimmons would make them run through “gauntlet of secret cave” to test their female vitality-mettle. Then boy-man Ar-chie would have to submit self-flesh to mortification by village Matriarch to see which girl-wimmon is most compatible. This process is making much sense and results in strong children-line, myselves is being good example.

Question: what means this dog-style? In village, we eat dogs with savory mushrooms.

So personality seems to be the key issue, and I think that Archie, clean cut American whitebread kid that he is, would probably be happier with Betty.

What are you Veronica people, idiots? The question is which is best for Archie, not you, not Veronica, not Betty. It is a no-brainer, the answer is Betty, 100%. Betty and Archie are completely compatible. Veronia and Archie have absolutely nothing in common. Besides, Veronica deserves Reggie and Reggie most definitely deserves Veronica.

I agree with Biggirl: any red-blooded American male would try to do them both. If then you have to choose, pick Veronica. I bet she’s a hell of a lot more adventurous in bed than|Betty, and it’s just as easy to love a rich girl as a poor girl.

Archie should be with Betty. Not only for the high soulmate factor, but also for practical reasons. In the event of a bad breakup, it’s a lot harder to replace the organist than the tambourine girl.

Betty, obviously, and let me post 4 reasons why:

1. The creators of the characters obviously think Betty is the right choice. I say this because the conflict they’ve set up and continue to milk is predicated on Archie being smitten with the WRONG girl (Ronnie) and ignoring the RIGHT girl (Betty.) The entire comic strip is based on that simple fact. So within the context of the Riverdale universe, Betty literally exists to be Archie’s ideal mate. Therefore, there’s probably a lot about Betty we don’t even know that makes her a better choice.

2. Betty would be way better in the sack. I’ve known lots of girls and I’m tellin’ ya right now that the sweet-but-intelligent types are tigers in bed. Oh, BABY. I bet Betty could suck a Ford Explorer right out its own exhaust pipe.

3. Based on the requirements of the OP, Betty is the only logial choice. If this is FOREVER, you have to pick the smarter, self-aware one who actually loves Archie, since there would be a much better chance of a life together working out.

4. I don’t see any advantage to Veronica at all. She’s richer, and that’s about it. She isn’t prettier, smarter, or funnier. The choice would be more interesting if Veronica was more beautiful and Betty were mousy, but she isn’t - they’re both equally gorgeous, so Jesse, your supermodel comparison doesn’t hold - Archie’s got a super-hot babe with either choice. His always choosing Ronnie is inexplicable, which is deliberate - it’s supposed to drive you crazy that he ignores Betty. Ronnie’s not really a bitch, but she doesn’t have the positive selling points Betty does. And she’s NOT more daring or more adventurous at all - geez, don’t you guys read the comics? Betty is the more daring of the two, is far more willing to try new things, and has way more interests.

Clearly, the correct choice for Archie is Betty. A relationship with Ronnie might work, but probably wouldn’t. Betty would be a terrific girlfriend and wife. As long as Archie doesn’t meetsomeone else in college, of course - he seems to be quite a babe magnet.

Taken from watching Archie plots and the way Betty and Veronica deal with each other…

I am putting money that Archie gets em both in the sack at one time to do their patented “I can do this better than Veronica, no I can do this better than Betty” schtick. Only add in positions and other interesting sweaty doings.

I figure ol Arch will be dead before the weekend is over but MAN what a way to go!
So to answer the OPS question…neither. I figure they both would lead him to a early grave.
