I’ve probably missed something or been incredibly unobservant but has that “Archive” link at the bottom been there for a while, and does it contain all the posts from the beginning? I’ve searched in this forum on “archive” and I found threads saying that some earlier stuff had been culled. Is it now back?
Interesting - I’ve never noticed that either. It does seem to go just about all the way back. I wonder if there is a way to search it?
When you click on the “PDA” button, it seems to reverse the chronology and tell you how many replies each thread received. It also makes the “PDA” button disappear, so you can’t go back to the other view.
Hmm, the threads that date from 1999 all seem to be zombies resurrected much later, and in any case they match ones that can be found easily by sorting the forums by date.
For sure it does not contain all the posts from the beginning.
Agreed. I looked for the thread where I announced the news of my first pregnancy (this would have been sometime in May 2001) and it’s not there. If that thread ever comes back, I’m saving it to my local HD immediately. I would have done so when it was still available, had I known that old threads were going to be purged from the database without warning. C’est la vie, I guess.
We hope to be able to put the old posts back at some point. Not sure when. Not sure where or how. But that’s our hope.
Not, of course, including the missing posts from the Winter of Our Lost Content, I assume…
The missing posts from that time are lost in the ether forever, I’m afraid. No doubt the best postings of all time.
I know that I, personally, had many excellent ones then. 
Especially the one from St. Crispin’s Day. 
It included the one where I announced I was going to prison. That was a fun one!
Are the posts from the BB Board, or whatever it was called (the backup board from our Winter of Missed Content), archived anywhere?
I’m sure BB went under shortly afterward. I had one of their free sites and first they dropped searching of threads, then even searching for forum names, and then just gave up. Since they were the only ones in a position to do a backup, chances are nil.
That board (bboy? Something like that) is still in business. But they cleared off their servers --and I have not been able to locate any of that content.
I thought I had it saved somewhere but I can’t find that either. ::: sigh :::
