Looking for some old posts, I just skimmed through GQ, GD, CS, IMHO, MPSIMS and the Pit. I changed the options at the bottom to sort by last post in ascending order from the beginning. Without fail, nothing came up from before August 2001.
I realize threads have been “archived” for some time, but have we really lost access to nearly everything from the first two years? Or am I doing something wrong?
If they are really gone, is there any possibility we’ll get these back?
Go to the bottom of this page. In the blue bar is a link called “Archive”. It’s got the old threads, though I haven’t found a way to search through them.
I did see that, but things still seem to be missing. For example, if they’re in chronological order by first post, which is how they seem to be arranged, were there REALLY only 30 threads in MPSIMS from the beginning of the board to the end of 1999? And just FIVE in the Pit for all of 1999?
These earlier threads have been physically removed from the board. Jerry is archiving them and at some point they’ll get put back on the board in read-only format.
Is this a certainty? If so, this is the best news I’ve had in a while. I would pay someone money if it meant being able to access the thread where I announced my first pregnancy again.
Nothing is a certainty – and I am in no position to state anything as a certainty, including whether the sun will rise tomorrow 'cause I don’t have advance information – but that is the idea, anyway. Don’t know how, don’t know if, don’t know when, have no further information. But that is the hope.
I don’t know if this is part of what’s missing, but there was also the Winter of Our Missed Content, ca. 2001, IIRC. I know I went looking for some things from around that time I found befores and afters but nothing from the actual lost period.
I’m not trying to sound rude or anything, but hasn’t that been the hope since you guys first started archiving posts in late 2005? How many more years until we find out something for sure?
