Strictly out of curiosity, are all the “Roots” Clothing America wears in the 06 games indeed made in America?
What about other Countries? Do the clothes worn by a country’s particpants have to be made in that country for any weird reason?

As far as I can tell, no. It looks like Roots falls under a small Canadian company called CanadianMoose. CanadianMoose markets products from businesses from all over Canada (that may have been made elsewhere). The apparel industry is like that.
I happen to have a Roots hat here from the 2002 Olympics. They are not just a Canadian company. The clothes are made in Canada too.
This came up in SLC, but everyone loved the uniforms, especially the berets, so it blew over pretty quickly.
Roots is the former Team Canada supplier, but they lost the contract to the Hudson’s Bay Company recently. Ironically, now the HBC has been purchased by an American company, Team USA is supplied by Canadians while Team Canada is supplied by Americans.
Me too. And my passport is in a Roots wallet. (The better to confuse the Border patrol. )
How neat! How symmetrical!
I nominate this for Fun Fact of the Month.
I think that the uniforms for Team Canada this year are awful. They reinforce the fallacy that Canada is a frozen hinterland and we all walk around in fur hats and mukluks. Par for the course for the HBC, though. Quite fitting, actually.
I agree. The Roots uniforms were much more stylish.
And to be expected following the move away from Roots. I don’t know who it is who awards the contract, though at a guess I’d say the COA, but they should know better. .
I was going to buy one of the T-shirts, because they look sort of neat, but I was turned off when I saw that it wasn’t Canada on the “made in” tag.
Bring Roots back.
