I’m not giving Jay’s ex a free pass. I’m not judging her at all. I barely know anything about her, as I began watching the show only after USA began airing reruns and my viewing has been spectacular. The only thing I really know about her is that Mitchell seemed relieved that she wasn’t coming to the wedding and that he thought it was ridiculous to think that her broken hip wasn’t the result of an assault she’d provoked someone into.
Anyway, the thread is about the regulars, not occasional supporting players.
I haven’t watched that much of the show, but they all seem to me to be good enough parents. Not perfect, but there are very few perfect parents out there.
Claire and Phil to me seem to be an excelent parenting team. While Jay is somewhat old school he has shown a willingness to evolve. While he still sometimes slips into old habits he’s willing to put forth effort to be a better father, especially with his adult children.
