Claire agrees to donate an egg to Mitch and Cam so they can have a child that’s equal parts Pritchett and Tucker. The next day everyone involved startes having second thoughts about the idea.
I thought it was the best episode in quite a while. It gave me the most laugh out loud moments I can recall from a single sit-com episode. Every single character had at least one funny moment, and the cold opening with all the nuttiness going on around the Dunphy home was hilarious.
I really lied this episode, too. Drunk Claire is always hilarious. Cam’s pictures of what different people’s babies would look like was fun, especially the Cam-Justin Timberlake mashup.
I tried to watch this episode. have not watched a complete episode yet - it’s award winning and all. thought I should give it a try. hate that documentary filming style, but beyond that I keep getting distracted by how wealthy the characters are. too annoyed to finish. wish I could understand what’s so great about this show.
The ending bit with Lily being horrified by the (unseen by the audience) Cam/Mitchell baby pic was pretty funny.
I also liked all the smack Luke was talking about Lily, then later they were considering him as babysitter. Even without his comments, Luke as a babysitter? Maybe if your baby is a dead squirrel.

My guess is drunk Clive Bixby did quite a number on Juliana Whatever when they got home. Or Juliana did a number on Clive. But there was definitely a number involved, dammit.
No idea about the reality, but this is the second reference I’ve seen in a sitcom. It was also mentioned in an episode of Arrested Development (with the same joke – both guys were a differenct race).
I thought this was a great episode, too. The premise was silly, but the underlying situation (making a promise to a family member you really want to take back) is pretty relatable and they handled the squirming well.
It was also a little less formulaic than Modern Family has been sometimes lately (although the requisite denouement-during-family-gathering was certainly there).
Only Jay is really wealthy. His kids are upper-middle class.
I thought the memories of Gloria and Manny’s life when they were broke and it was just the two of them were really sweet. (And apparently Jay did too.)
Sampiro - not to derail anything - but I’ve asked friends and they all agree EVERYONE on this show seems wealthy to us. course we all make 30,000 or less a year so I guess I’m not a target audience or something. Those houses, the furnishings. just wow. things normal people I know can only dream of. the people on “The Middle” seem to live in slightly more real world, for a sitcom. End hijack.
I agree. Jay is the most wealthy, but they’re all wealthy. I couldn’t dream of living in a house as big or as nice as any of them. And they can do it all with only one income earner in each household. They’re all rich.
