I’ve seen it a lot, mostly in the pit, some one posts something, expecting rousing chorus of ‘you go grl’ type of shit and is astonished to discover that not everyone agrees that it was ok to stomp on cute puppies. (ugly ones, it’s obviously ok)
Well, I didn’t post it in the pit, I posted it in IMHO and Czarcasm moved it to the pit. Anyway, if there was no precedent before, there is now.
So? The sentiment was the same, you posted it in IMHO, wondering if lots of people had this odd predjudice as you did. Expecting, no doubt, a certain amount of folks to agree w/you. Doubt you’d have posted it at all if you believed that most folks would think you were full of shit, right? The mod just allowed them to say it more bluntly.
Well, after I both apologized and requested that it be closed, I don’t see the refusal by the moderator to do so as anything other than “punishing” me, and I would think that gentlemen would be above such vindictiveness.

I don’t think it’s the mods’ job to close any thread upon request anymore than it’s their job to edit people’s typos. Sometimes you just have to live with what you posted.
Mods can do lots of things, but I kind of like how they sometimes don’t.
Mods love a good train wreck as much as the rest of us, but I think it’s time to put this one to bed. Argent has saved what dignity could be saved (and received a good number of supporting anecdotal backups) and the RO and humour has played itself out.
I know two really tall guys who I’ve always thought were kinda dickheadish.
Maybe the tall assholes that some have known had Klinefelter Syndrome.
All the time. I’d say I close only a small fraction of the threads that people request to be closed. Any topic that I think other people might want a chance to voice their opinions on, I’ll leave open, barring special and/or especially pathetic circumstances. I do think it happens most often in the Pit, but I’ve seen it happen elsewhere as well.
Maybe you could challenge him to a duel. If you knock his top hat off when you slap him with your glove, it might land in the mud, which would be a minor victory all its own.
6’3" about 180. I have big hands. I seem to get a lot of comments on my hands. So I like to say “Big nose, big feet, big hands… you get the picture?” Most people find that mildly funny. Anyway FWIW I think I’m a pretty nice guy
I think this ship has pretty much sailed but 6’3" and 180 isn’t really the kind of build I’m talking about. I’m referring to people who are taller than that, like basketball-player tall, but still very skinny.
If it’s any consolation, my sophomore roomate was 6’x" and like a hundred and nothing and he was a whinny spoiled prick.
Just wanted to say that I prefer men to be tall and on the wiry side–think a young Dick Van Dyke. There’s something about a lanky guy…

Short guys tend to be pricks too, actually.
The majority of guys I know who are like, under 5’6", tend to be little Napoleon-complex assholes who talk tough and are hotheads. One short guy I know, I have had to physically restrain him when we were out drinking.
The tall guys tend to be introverted and sullen. The short guys are usually unpredictable and dangerous.
The most trustworthy guys are usually between 5’7 and 6’2.
Yes, it happened to me. I don’t even remember what the subject was, but I was getting an ass-whupping and I asked that the thread that I had started be closed. The mod told me no and said I would just have to live with it.
It was a little humiliating, but I took it like a woman.
You’re cutting far too much slack, there. Personally, I only trust guys between 5’9 and 6’0. If the metric system meant anything to me in terms of human height, I would narrow it down even further.
But seriously, while I know a lot of tall skinny non-assholes, the biggest assholes I -do- know are tall skinny guys. Short assholes are more easily laughed off than someone with a more noble bearing.
I have found that if you participate in a thread that gets moved to the Pit, and that move is likely to permit flaming or piling on you, then simply abandon the thread immediately and save yourself the headache. Just leave and never open it again.
Trust me, I stopped taking this thread seriously a long time ago. I wasn’t intending to be serious with my last post either, it was just a joke. Come on, you really think I only trust people within some narrow height range?
Anyway, I do have to question the impartiality of Giraffe here.
