Are straight women less attractive than bi and lesbian women?

In Jay McInnerney’s novel, Bright Lights, Big City the main character, an Ivy league writer type, has married a stunning small town Kansas girl and moved with her to NYC. As her modeling career takes off, and she gets more and more caught up in the world of high fashion, they break up. It’s hinted that part of her transformation, along with the cocaine, is having sexual flings with other girls.

In one scene, the main character goes into the ladies room at a club in search of coke that he’s sure his club hopping companions are doing in a stall. But these ladies, both friends and coworkers of his ex wife, are eating each other out in the stall. Coke may still have been involved in their bathroom hookup. They may have gone in for the coke, but they stayed to eat pussy.

McInnerney wasn’t making up this stuff out of whole cloth. It was part of the club scene he observed in the early '80’s.

You couldn’t offend me if you tried.

But your posting style is that of a teenager. Just an observation.

It sounds like you haven’t really been around and you’re basing your knowledge/opinions on the few places you’ve been too.

7 billion on the planet and most haven’t been in the clubs you go too.

Argument from ignorance.

Thanks for identifying your style for us.

ETA: Wow, one character in a novel supports your asinine “argument.” Well, color me convinced! You must be right.

Whoa, now. Let’s be real. 5-year-olds ask questions about where babies come from out of honest ignorance, and based on real observations about the world.

Right, but i’m giving the OP the benefit of the doubt. He could be honestly ignorant.

Angelina Jolie, as Fred13 notes, has had long time female lovers, coterminous with her relationship with Brad Pitt. Drew Barrymore admits to hooking up with girls on occasion.

If you’re really interested in this whole scene in Hollywood, Full Service gives a detailed account of mid century Hollywood morays. The same stuff is still going on today.

Well to be fair Angelina Jolie didn’t have lesbian affairs while with Brad Pitt. It was before. The rest I agree with.

Your responses tell me you don’t know anything about the millieu I’m referring to. Maybe you have to see it to believe it, and since you’re not likely to have the opportunity, I guess you’ll remain unconvinced.

How am I ignorant?

Wow…although you’re ca
Long me ignorant you haven’t disproven Beowulf at all yet. He makes great points.

I could explain to you why your “analysis” and “argument” are so ridiculous, but this post suggests that you wouldn’t even understand it, so i’ll spare you the brainache.

Give it shot, sparky.

I looked at the details of the book, he did say the lesbian fear was irrational, although everything else you said was spot on.

Explain then please because I’d like to hear it, seriously. His analysis seems correct and I think men should be scared that all there women are doing this now.

Explain then please, seriously. His analysis is spot on and I honk this proves men should worry about women cheating with women just as much as with men. That’s a ridiculous story.

No. I made a mistake by even addressing your “argument” in the first place.

On this issue (i don’t know about other subjects), you’re clearly one of those “I’ve seen a couple of things so my experience must be universally true” sort of debaters. Impossible to convince with actual evidence and reason. I’ll leave you to your ridiculous generalizations from your own narrow and limited experience. Have fun.

Fred13, the fact that you refer to women as “there women,” indicating both a belief that men possess women, and also an ignorance of correct usage, tells me about as much as i need to know about your understanding of this issue. Before you go to bed, look up the difference between “there” and their"; at least then you might get something out of this thread.

I meant that “there are” women. I’m not on a computer so grammar isn’t a big concern right now. Anyway, you keep saying you could prove him Wrong so prove him wrong. He’s not even using his own experiences now but articles and books, so this is legitimate. Show me this evidence of yours.

I never made an argument about universality. In fact, I made the opposite argument, that this was a limited phenomenon, found only in certain places and among certain specific types of people.

I don’t think he has anything for you.
