Right, there already is a wall. Not like what Trump envisions, but there is one. The dems would be happy to allocate funds to improve, expand and maintain the wall already there, in the name of drug interdiction. But of course, they expect a quid pro quo, which is standard in DC.
The dems are doing Capital Hill business as usual.
They already did, earlier in 2017, without the quid pro quo. They also gave Trump actual funding for his “DA WALL” foolishness in a quid pro quo for enshrining DACA in law - he said yes, then shat the bed mere hours later. Which has led to the current impasse - negotiations are pointless with a inherently dishonest actor. Everything the Democrats have tried to compromise on has been torn asunder by Trump’s fits of stupidity. Why waste the time and energy any more?
The same reason that four other missing children that were found dead in Iowa within two weeks of Mollie Tibbets didn’t make national news and massive outcry.
I’m slightly surprised someone with a working brain had enough influence in the morass of remaining idiocy to maneuver him into giving up before the senate flat out said they would override him, but I’m still calling this a win for my predictive power, and a big ass loss for the moron.
With all due respect, you made that prediction on Christmas so by saying it would drag into January, that’s estimating the shutdown would last between 6 and 37 days. And his veto hasn’t been overridden.
I bring to attention the “He will have impotently stomped his foot for a month” clause for the first point, and my earlier post today addressed the second point as an acknowledged miss.
