I ask this question because I was glued to the computer for about two days after I found this site. I typed a search string for the word ‘the’ in to the archive search engine and bookmarked the page. Are there any others?
This is more of an IMHO than a GQ. Please read the forum descriptions.

Seeing as how you’re a Brit, you could try The Guardian’s Notes and Queries page, which is an online version of the long-running column. The format and culture are rather different to here, so take a while to lurk around. Strangely enough, the latest answers on the New Scientist’s The Last Word site are about differences between UK and American English, a topic you are evidentally interested in.
I’d suggest Usenet. It’s not a website, but an entirely different protocol that runs on the Internet. However, you can access the Usenet news groups through websites like Google’s group archive:

Usenet has a lot more granularity than SDMB. There are thousands of forums with very specific charters. Some are moderated; some are not. Some are overrun with noise and others are very high quality. In the fifteen or so years of Usenet, it’s likely every single piece of information known to man has crossed the wire at one time or another. It’s a tremendous resource for answering questions, especially with Google’s search interface.
If you want to participate in the forums instead of just browse the archives, grab an NNTP client (many browsers will do) and dive in.
