Dawn dishwashing liquid.
One of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done was help wash oil-spill soaked birds. Of all the different soaps they tried, they found that Dawn worked the best at lifting the oil from the feathers (without serious damage to the bird or feathers). When Dawn heard about this, they donated cases and cases of their product. Which, in itself was pretty cool. But what also impressed me was that they never made any publicity about it. Which I thought was even cooler. Swore then and there that I’d only ever use Dawn on my dishes (it works well, too !).
I will only eat Jiff peanut butter.
Victoria’s Secret bras definitely. They are worth the money.
Tide laundry detergent.
Hmmm, that’s all I can think of for now.
Jif
Helmon’s Mayo
Pepsi
Yuengling
Cremora Non Dairy Creamer - My grocery store recently had a closeout sale on Cremora. I went into a panic! I sent my poor husband allover town looking for it. Only 1 store still had some, so he bought a bunch. It turned out, they were only changing the packaging. Whew!
White Wave products (makers of Silk, and other delicious soy things as well.)
Tim Horton’s coffee (I live in the States, but my boyfriend got me hooked on the stuff.)
Green Guru frozen meals.
Converse and Birkenstocks for shoes.
Apple Computer
MINI Automobile
They really are. They last quite a long time for wearing them so much. They also don’t make my feet hurt like so many other shoes do.
Sony electronics (Sony, no baloney!)
Bose speakers (I know, I know, pit me if you must)
Scott toilet paper
Benson & Hedges cigarettes (there are no others)
Vienna Beef hot dogs
Michelin tires (if it has 4 wheels)
Avon tires (if it has 2 wheels)
Unclviny
Kelchner’s horseradish-all other brands are poseurs
Skippy Chunky PB
Sun-Maid raisins
Hatch chile products
Seiko watches
Zinsser specialty paints/sealers
Hart hammers (Cali 24 framer my fave)
New Balance shoes - Nobody else seems to make athletic shoes in wide sizes
Heinz ketchup - The only kind that I can stand
Coca-Cola - I can’t stand Pepsi, although I’ll drink other soft drinks just not Pepsi.
Ford - although I work at a Ford dealer, so that may not count
Mug Shots hamburgers - This is a local hamburger place, I don’t eat any other hamburgers
Three Musketeers - my favorite candy bar.
Minute Maid Lemonade - I rarely drink Lemonade, but I’ll drink this. The stuff you mix up, not the bottled stuff, which tastes like swill.
Ford
Tampax
Best Foods Mayo
Seattles Best or Millstone Coffee Beans
Venus Razor
Jif Creamy PB
Pop Tarts brand
Diet Coke (I can’t stand Pepsi)
Tide
Downy
Mentadent Toothpaste
Heinz Kethchup (Hunts is just gross)
and…if I have to buy Mac and Cheese, it’s got to be Kraft. The kids and hubby like it. I basically lived on this stuff in my poorer days and now I can’t really abide it.
Those are all I can think of for now…
ob tampons. I’ve never found any others that work as well.
Hellman’s mayo.
Diet Coke. Occasionally if there’s nothing else available in a restaurant, I’ll drink a diet pepsi, but usually I’ll find a way to avoid that.
Charmin regular tp - none of this ultra for me.
For the most part, I couldn’t tell you off the top of my head what brand of shampoo or deoderant sits in my bathroom right now, although I have learned a few to avoid.
If I’ve consistently stayed, and intend to stay, with any products, it would likely be:
• BMW
• Bass Weejuns
• Guinness (having one now, as a matter of fact)
• French Market coffee and chicory
• Inderal
Former loyalties which finally, after many good experiences, disappointed me:
• HP printers (I recently got a Designjet 100plus and I find it hard to believe HP put out this stinker)
• Gateway computers (bought my first in the late '80s when you could still get Ted Waite on the phone - I don’t hate’em, but they’re nothing special anymore)
I notice quite a few Gillette Mach 3 fans. Well, I’m currently married to them because I bought a rather expensive shaving handle that will only accept them. But I think I used to get a much better (closer) shave with my old Gillette Attra (or clones thereof) blades.
The only two things I am completely loyal to at this point are Hellman’s (or Best Foods) mayonnaise, Mitchum deodorant, and, for the time being, Preferred Stock cologne. Also, if I knew where to find it, I’d probably buy nothing but Yardley’s of London soap as well but I’ve yet to notice it since moving and I don’t even know what stores my mom bought it in before I moved out of her house.
HP for printers. Had a 600, a 930c, and am now on a PSC1215 all-in-one. (I’ll stay away from this ‘DesignJet’ though, thanks).
PG Tips tea. That’s what my Mum buys so it reminds me of home when I drink it at college, so I stick with it.
Surf soap powder. No real reason: again, it’s just my Mum’s chosen brand so I buy it too.
Head & Shoulders shampoo. I find it does what it says it will whereas other brands don’t or are irritating. Nothing to do with ‘Evolution’, mind.
Cadbury’s chocolate (for bars, not boxes of chocolates). Because it tastes nicer than other brands of British chocolate, basically. Especially over-rich Galaxy chocolate–I avoid that.
There are loads of other products that I don’t care what brand it is when I buy it.
For lots of things (soft drinks at the minute, I buy lots of Rubicon and Fentiman’s drinks; and beer) I try and support smaller brands/breweries rather than just going with Coke/Guinness all the time), but at the same time if all there is in a particular cafe or pub is Coca-Cola/Lager I don’t mind (much) buying it.
Pepsi products
Kraft food products (former and future stockholder)
Opryland Hotel (ditto)
Brawny paper towels
Tide detergents
Utz snack foods
Electrosol dishwasher tabs
I forgot:
Sure deodorant (it’s the only one I’ve found that I’m not allergic to)
Browsing these responses has made me think of a few more exclusives:
[ul]
[li]PurinaOne dog and cat food (tasty!)[/li][li]Chuck-It Flying Squirrel toy (my dog will play with other things, but she goes nuts for these and is on her sixth one in a year)[/li][li]Yuengling Lager (I like other beers, but this is my standard)[/li][li]Heinz ketchup (as a kid, I hated whenever Mom bought Hunt’s on sale)[/li][/ul]
Interesting. I’m with you on the Michelin (or Toyo, if you want to spend more for a little extra grip) for cars, but my bike has Bridgestones (I believe they’re Firestones in the US). Then again, for some bikes Avons might be the best for all I know.
Another dull Gillette Mach 3 user. What a fantastic scam these guys run.
I vastly prefer Gant and Marlboro Classics in terms of jeans. I prefer Illy espresso above most other (normally available) brands.
I’m not much of a brand whore, I think. Oh, how could I forget: Chocomel.
• Apple Computers
• Raichle hiking boots. I just got a new pair this fall, and the previous pair that they’re replacing was purchased new in 1985. Nineteen years for a set of footwear is outstanding (and I put the miles to them, too. Got them resoled twice over the course of the years)
• Golden fleece scouring pads. I hate it when I’m reduced to having to use those inferior Scotch Brite or copper or green things, or those awful steel wool pads. God, I feel like I’m in a Procter and Gamble commercial or something, but it’s true.
