Are there suddenly more sick people? Or, the Superflu on SDMB

Hey, how ARE you people getting gas for your vehicles? Don’t gas pumps run on electricity?

I tell you what, though, I sure am glad to not have to sweat stuff like gas money…and grocery money…and insurance and the cable bill and phone and electric and packing a lunch to bring to work and yadda yadda. I don’t even have to pay for my internet connection!

I’ve hit a few gas stations that still have the power on. And still accept my debit card.

It’s so insane.

Well, I might as well keep talking because now I can’t possibly be in any worse trouble. I don’t have much time. They’re coming. The door to this office was designed to keep the police out, but it will not stop… him.

The board was down yesterday. Now it’s going to a paid basis. This probably means that the SDMB has moved to Vegas - and guess where all of the credit cards still work? President Henreid feels threatened by this board, apparently.

Yes, it’s true that there was a crucifixion. It came as an enormous shock to all of us. A lot of people ran like hell - some even got away. I guess you’d call them the truly rational ones. What did I do instead? I stayed behind. And protested.

I painted, “Go back to prison, Mr Henreid” in huge letters on the glass side of the Luxor. I thought it was anonymous. Safe. Might keep Vegas from revealing it’s true colors for a while longer, let more people get away.

But I was seen. And, apparently, reported.

I hear one more pair of slow footsteps coming. His footsteps.

Lloyd Henreid’s a masterful misinformer. He had me convinced for a while. Think about it: how likely is it that Henreid majicked himself out of prison somehow? Everybody in jail died horribly of starvation, if the flu hadn’t gotten them. It was much more believable, Henreid said, that somebody from Boulder hacked into the NY Times under orders from the old lady.

You were right. I am sorry. I was misled.

It’s not too late for you. Las Vegas is preparing for war against Boulder. (WHY???) When you get there, tell Mother Abagail to hurry. You must strike first before they can get bombers in the air.

Hurry. He is opening the door.

[time out]FTR, I think SDMB going paid is a good and necessary thing. Characters in this thread do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the posters.[/time out]

4 pages, and no posts from Boulder? Is there not internet access up there, or did the Vegas people really bomb them? :frowning:

Me, I’m staying where I am, thankyouverymuch. I don’t know why everything still works, and frankly, I don’t want to know. If things crap out, well, I’ll think of something then.

I’ve been having dreams, too, and some of them have paralleled the posts here quite eerily. It’s like I’m living through other people vicariously or something.

Haven’t felt much grief or horror yet. Heck, haven’t felt much of anything since I’ve had to roll my grandma’s overweight corpse out of the house. I’ve noticed that whenever I’ve gotten very stressed, I just sort of “turn off” my emotions. And the world going to Hell in a handbasket certainly calls for a lot of stress.

I sort of wish my parents came home before they kicked the bucket so that at least I’d have a car to drive. I’m weird about things like that - I still pay whenever I go to the Winn Dixie that’s just outside of my subdivision. The ATM machines and credit cards still work for whatever reason. Again, I’m not going to ask.

Which reminds me. I’m running low on cat food. Maybe I’ll let the feline overlord try some of the canned stuff, he’s been a rather picky eater lately.

(time out)Interpret this however you guys want. Either I really am living in some sort of Twilight Zone-ish “Everybody’s Gone, but Everything Still Works” place, or the shock has gotten to me and I’m hallucinating everything.(time in)
