Are "virtual parties" still allowed

I know you discourage “post # parties”, but are you discouraging, or have banned outright, “virtual parties”?

I’m not aware that we have. Do you have an example?

MPSIMS mod here:

We will close threads that are either post-count padding or post-count celebrations. An example of the first would be a series of one-word (or one-sentence) posts where the same thing is being repeated over and over (“You!” “No, you!”), or if people were taking turns reciting the alphabet or suchlike. An example of the latter is “woo hoo, this is my 100th (1000th, 10,000th) post!” Again, all of those will be closed promptly.

We would not, however, close a thread with a series of very short posts if the people posting in that thread are playing a game of some sort (in which case it would be moved to the Game Room, if the thread weren’t started there). This game might have the rules stated up front, or it might be one where the thread title suggests the premise of the game and posts, including the OP, are all plays in that game. There was a recent “Jeremy Irons” thread that I moved from Cafe Society to the Game Room, for instance.

If by “a party thread,” you mean an OP where you say “I’m in the mood for a party and you’re all invited. There’s beer in the kitchen and the table in the dining room is set up for potluck – what kind of music do you want to hear?” and people post stating what they’re bringing for the potluck and make suggestions for music, and interacting with each other at your virtual party … I’d be okay with that in MPSIMS, as long as multiple people were actively participating in it.

If you’re talking about something I haven’t covered, explain further and we’ll let you know if it’s a problem or not.

Yes, but the amplitude is highly suppressed for those that are far off-shell.

Wait, that’s virtual particles… never mind.
