I think that we are all exposed to a far greater number of sexual images of women than we are images of men. Advertisers like to focus on the 18 - 34 yr. old males (someone has evidently convinced them that we have money… I must have misplaced mine) and often do so by portraying attractive women. The ever-present double standard in movies is that full female nudity is okay for an R rating, and you can go check that out at the cineplex, but male nudity is a big no-no, and you need to go to, eh… “specialty” houses to see that.
The end result of this is that we may, as a society, be assoiciating sexuality and the sex act much more with women than with men. If ninety percent of the blatantly “sexual” images you see in your lifetime contain women, then it might be only natural that when you think of sex, your first thought is of women, regardless of your own sex.
Under this theory, when men think of “sex”, it is heterosexual, but for women, it would be a bi-curious thought, even if their underlying nature (whichever that may be) might not cause them to act upon it.
This is NOT true. This silly idea has been batted around lately by the media nuts. The basic idea proposed is that full frontal nudity on a woman gets you and R rating, while full frontal nudity on a man gets you a NC-17. The problem is you aren’t compareing the same thing. Full frontal nudity on a man gives you a full genital shot, while frontal nudity on a woman gets you very little. Show me an R rated movie where the cameraman is on the floor looking up between the womans legs and that you will have an example of nudity discrimination. You might be able to find one, but you’ll never find enough examples to show a pattern of discrimination.
I have never wondered what it would be like to kiss a man. Out of all the things that gay males do when they have sex, the thing that gives me the heebee jeebee’s is imagining the hair on their arms touching. Don’t get me wrong, I’m told by some gay friends I’ve had (have), that I’m quite gay positive. But hairy arm touching is just too much for me.
Onto the gist of the thread…it’s a well known fact that when beautiful women get together, they have tickle fights that last for hours.
About the double standard…
I have repeatedly seen full frontal female nudity in R-rated movies, (Road Trip comes to mind. It was brief, but it was there) Whereas, I have rarely, if ever, seen full frontal male nudity.
To the OP, I’ve never heard any of the females I hang around admit being bi-curious, but maybe they are just shy.
Shortly after Arnie’s character appears, (at least in the non-blockbuster version) either he or a body double is walking stark naked toward the camera.
As I recall, whomever it was must have had a weight dangling from that thing to make it quite that long. I was ashamed of my tiny, prepubescent penis for years.
And another, though not FULL nudity…Boogie Nights. How could you forget Dirk Diggler?
Did they show that androgynous guy’s wang in The Crying Game?
Yikes, I’m now going to go outside, smoke a cigarette, and fantasize about the women of the SDMB untill I feel clean again.
I think the distinction labdude is making is that when you see female full frontal nudity you’re almost always seeing pubic hair but not genitalia, whereas when you see male full frontal nudity you see both.
