Are you going to take the new Jeopardy Practice Test?

I was looking through those already. I think I got 42 out of 50, including two right answers I pulled out of thin air.

And here are the answers, assembled on Reddit. I put them in a spoiler box, just because it’s long. I got 44 out of 50, a few were guesses, including Cincinnati which was a complete wild ass guess. I’m feeling pretty good.

43 here. I guessed on Cincinnati, and Judy Blume, and As You Like It. And I put down Stephen Douglas even though I knew it was wrong.

The funny thing is, I got the first two wrong and thought “well, I’m boned.”

Well, I am not going to try out for Jeopardy.

I did get 47 out of 50* and I am verklempt about what I missed. But the thing is that even when I knew the answer, it didn’t bubble up in my brain fast.

It did bubble up within 10-15 seconds, but by that point everybody else who knew the answer would have beaten me.

Also I am not a very nice person and I’m a really bad loser, and this would probably come out at some point before I got on national television even assuming I passed everything else.

Was kinda fun though.

*On the practice test, not the online test.

  1. Not bad. I blanked out terribly on some I really should have gotten; Outlander, Bohr, Cincinnati and Obsidian.

I got maybe 5 or 6. Yeah, I’m dumb.

I’m taking the online contestant test today. We took my friend out this afternoon because he passed the bar exam and I’m slightly drunk, so the results should be interesting.

Yeah, I feel like how I would do on Jeopardy would be entirely dependent on whether or not I had to deal with categories like Poetry or 1960s Pop Culture or whatnot.

Then again, it feels like they use very few clues for the test that you can puzzle out from a combination of the clue and category… instead, tends to be a lot more straightforward, ya-know-it-or-ya-don’t types.

I got either 43 or 44. I have auditioned twice and feel the same way Number does – it’s pretty clear they don’t want me. Still I dream on.

I did better than I thought I would: 37/50. It didn’t seem that much harder than the Jeopardy questions on the show–at least, that percentage is about the same as I get from watching the show. Heck it might be even better. Getting four out of five on average during the show would be a very good day for me. It’s more like 3/5 for me. There is no way I’d be quick enough or good enough for the show.
