Buddy Roemer now says he’s running 3rd party. I will certainly consider voting for him, too.
You don’t have to pretend. You just have to phrase your question in a neutral manner… or at the very least, avoid dripping with condescension toward your opponents when you do post your poll.
You’re an educated man, so I’m pretty sure that you understand that distinction, even though you refuse to acknowledge it.
And yet your choice of words demonstrates otherwise. I doubt that you’re seriously fooling anyone.
Not seeking to fool anyone. I voted in the poll, and I’ve got a long-standing reputation of partisanship (or at least loathing for rightwing politics–but remember how I opposed and castigated Hilary, Blago, and other corrupt Democrats, and my outright concempt for Chris Matthews and other lefty imbeciles in the media), so to pretend otherwise would be trying IMO to fool people. I’m trying instead to be clear on who I am, and I think I succeed in that aim. This poll’s choices are phrased in a neutral-enough manner–I’ve been criticized in this thread for not giving Obama supporters an option that reflects their partisanship. You’re just trying to taint this poll with bias (that I’m cheerfully copping to upfront) in an attempt to negate your own reluctance to participate in it. As noted, though, not to participate is a failure almost as obvious for some of you as stating your hatred of all things Obama. You’re fooling no one by abstaining.
Not with regard to your contempt for Republicans, sure. We both know that’s not what I was talking about, though. I was saying that you’re not fooling anyone when you say that you’re not castigating anyone. When you say things like “In my own view, it marks you as ‘batshit-insane hater’ and I can understand how you might like to scurry away from that designation,” then you’re pretty much insulting them openly.
The choices alone? Sure. The OP in its entirety? Not at all.
When you open up by saying, “[T]he more I regard this fucked-up field spouting hateful nonsense I wonder who can support such a choice,” then you’re pretty much announcing that you want to skewer anyone who opposes your view on that matter. Hardly a neutral OP by any stretch.
And if I’d said nothing, you could still come in here and link to almost any of my past posts on politics and give me a whole bunch of “Who do you think you’re think you’re fooling–we know your whole secret agenda that you’re trying to cover up by your bland phrasing” blablabla. This way, I’m open about my own biases, and you’re still exposing who you are by refusing to cast your vote in this poll, not because of me or anything I’ve written, but for your own reasons of self-protection and secrecy.
