At 2:40pm EST yesterday, I posted this thread asking for microscope recommendations.
About two-and-a-half hours later, Argent Towers posted the exact same thread.
Don’t want to click the link? I’ll post our OP’s.
With a few variants, Argent Towers’ post sounds very much like mine.
Additionally, my thread so far has 0 replies. Argent Towers’ has 27. What gives, Dopers?
Maybe these threads are complete coincidence, but it doesn’t seem like it from here. The joke about Agent Foxtrot/Argent Towers having similar names is no longer funny. Any other time, Towers’ thread would’ve been closed since I already created a thread on the same subject. He could’ve just posted in my thread.
Perhaps your $100 price point is too low to get the attention of the serious Doper microscopers. Argent Towers was willing to lay out some serious scratch.
Sorry, he bumped his thread before you did yours. You both posted during working hours, when microscope-using people were using their scopes. I caught the thread after it was bumped later that day. Sorry, I didn’t see yours first.
Same things applies, no?
In summary:
The Excalibur of microscopes costs way more than $100, and microscopes in that price range are not the ones that microscope-using scientists use frequently.
Binocular is better that monocular, sorry. Especially binoculars that let you adjust eyepiece distance and have fine focus on their pieces.
Y’all have me dumbfounded about why you would want to get microscopes as a hobby. To each their own…
It’s perfectly normal for you to feel this way. When someone else takes credit for your idea, it’s completely valid for you to feel a little bit threatened and resentful. Just remember that it doesn’t in any way reflect on you. And see if you can channel those feelings into making some positive changes for the future.
And now, I’d like to speak to Argent Towers. Can you do that for me, Agent, can you let me speak to Argent, now?
