What are the payroll laws like in Ireland? In the US (at least in the states I’ve worked in) they have to pay you correctly and on the correct date. If a mistake occurs they have to rectify it immediately, unless you choose to allow them to make it up on the next pay period.
I’ve done payroll where we’ve goofed up and we just have the controller cut a check right then and there for the difference. I’ve also been paid incorrectly (both in my favour and not) and I just have them rectify it on the next check.
At least they didn’t bounce the check I’ve had that happen and it sucks as you get stuck paying all the fees associated with that.
What happened to the other continents? Has Europe taken over the world? Will everybody except Turkey be allowed to join the EU? I’m confused! irishgirl, that totally sucks Hope it gets solved soon.
My freshmen year I managed to keep my old job at home by going home at least one weekend a month and working a 4 hour shift. More on school breaks. However at the end of the year I got so busy I went over a month without working so I was dropped from payroll. It wasn’t that big a problem since management “rehired” at the same rate and did an overide to my senority would count. However I had did have to fill out all my paperwork again. Paperwork that kept getting sent back from HR. I didn’t get an actual paycheck for 5 weeks! Y’all are probally wonder why the hell I kept working. I was getting payed, just in cash instead by check (supermarket so there was plenty of cash onhand). This also caused problems since cash advances were supposed very rare things (due to rare problems like checks being delayed) and corrected ASAP.
After a month I finally got a check. A huge check for 4 pay week’s work. Which the duty manager who sorted them promplty sent back because it had to be a mistake since there was no way I worked over a 150 hours that week. She wasn’t up to speed on my payroll problems and didn’t realize that it was for an entire month’s work. So next week I got a big check for 5 weeks pay. Which I promptly had to cash onsite and pay most of it back to the store. Even weirder was that when she cashed it out office manager had to count the entire amount back to me, then I counted back my cash advances and gave her back most of the monery she had just handed me. We both laughed over that.
