I’ll be there at 6:30 to make sure everything is ok. See you there.
Well, that was a nice Dopefest! It took a while to set up, About 500 million years…
All who came (sorry Cisco) got a small surprise: everyone got either a small bit of petrified wood from the Triassic or Fossil Coral from the Devonian: Buffalo Undersea Reef Research
http://www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/petrified_forest/geology.html
Did you know Petrified wood is the official state fossil of Arizona? I kid you not: List of Official State Fossils
It is interesting to find that during the Paleozoic, Arizona was just an ocean:

As a special guest, **SkipMagic ** got a Fossil Brachiopod From the Devonian era: SOME FOSSILS FROM THE ABRIGO FORMATION, PIMA CO., ARIZONA
Both **SkipMagic ** and I will post some pictures later.
Had a great time, will see if we can set up another meet in a year or so.
Hey, I had a great time! Arizona Dopers sure are nice. (Missouri ones are just plain mean. ;))
A big hearty thanks to GIGObuster for arranging this, and for the nice gift he brought. He also did the dirty deed of dividing the dinero; thanks to him, the waitress got paid and even took our picture.
And, here are the photos hiding away in my camera.
Uh-huh, sure…If you’re anything to judge by Missouri Dopers are wonderful company, indeed. I’ve finally found a good reason to travel East of the Rockies again.
And yes, yes, once again a big thank you to GIGObuster for getting us all together this evening. We wish more of you could have been there to enjoy the good food and delightful company! We’ll have to do this again soon.
Indeed, many thanks to GIGObuster for arranging and for the fossils. Lizard Queen got petrified wood, and I got Fossil Coral. Mine will go on my Altar, in the West for water. I already have a nice chunk of Citrine for North.
Tell me again, GIGO, how to summon elementals with a Cell Phone?
Great to meet some Arizona Dopers, even if we didn’t get to mingle more. I’m impressed Trublmakr drove all the way up from Tucson, Safe trip back tomorrow.
Thanks to Skipmagic for getting the photos up so soon, Kudos.
And know I know how to type umop ap!sdn
Dr. Rieux, we’ll have to meet again, cuz we really didn’t this time.
Idle thoughts and Cisco were no shows, Where were you, Fellows? You missed some Crazy Tasty Mariscos, and good conversation. Consensus at the Table was the plane takes off, but sane people didn’t post to that thread.
Well, here is a fire one:

Call your local dealership and run over the other competing wizards!
I’ve been tits-up since about 6 o’clock. I’m sorry, I really planned on being there but I have a bad habit of “1 or 2 beer” happy-hours lasting all night. A cow-orker is going through some rough times and my wife and I invited him home with us after happy hour to relax and vent a little bit. I really really hope to be able to make it next time, and I hope it happens soon (before the 110+ weather hits in the next 60 days or so.)
GIGOBuster is truly one of the coolest and most knowledgeable dopers and I feel like a total jackass for living in the same metro area as him and not seeing him for the last three years.
Let’s please have an encore event very soon!
Well, I just got home from Phoenix. Left my hotel at 11:30 this morning, and what should have been a lovely 1 1/2 hour drive turned into a 3 hour ordeal. Accident on 1-10 just outside Phoenix, sat there for a full hour at a dead stop! Grrr! If I’d known that would happen I would’ve just drove home last night. Also had a really bad night at the hotel- called the office four times until 2 am to complain about the partiers upstairs. Going to write the corporate office, maybe I’ll get comped something for next time.
But the dinner was fabulous, and I enjoyed meeting everyone. Everyone was so very friendly. Idle Thoughts, I really wish you’d been there- I was looking forward to meeting you. And you, too, Cisco.
Thanks for the great time and all your hard work, Gigobuster!
sigh I wanted to, but I foolishly spent all my moolah in a bookstore earlier in the day. And I didn’t want to show up with nothing and just watch everyone eat but on the same token, I didn’t want to have to accept anyone paying for me. Too proud.
So I stayed home and hid under the bed.*
*I would have replied in here saying I wasn’t coming but I didn’t have net access after the time I realized I was broke and not able to make it.
Thank you all for your kind words!
Cisco, don’t worry, I will save a Fossil for you and we will get together soon to show you some designs I made with your script.
If by any chance anyone was reading this and is from the Bay Area in San Francisco, I’m headed that way next week:
