Oh. I guess I’ve seen that before. I thought it was supposed to be another acronym. I was trying to figure out what it stood for.

Yes, I was sure one of your erudition would have known what it meant.

The misinformation in the earlier reports is similar to the misinformation about (and angry pitting of) the woman who freaked out on an airplane the other day, who’s now being described not to be a Muslim writing about terrorists and wielding vasoline and a screwdriver, but as an older white woman from Vermont with claustrophobia. I’ve been watching Fox and CNN whipping up a huge frenzy about this (including the usual Nancy Grace interview with a “psychoanalyst” who described what was wrong with Karr in an unethical way that would lead me to suspend her license if I had any say about it).

There appear to be two possibilities:

  1. He killed her, intentionally or not;

  2. or he didn’t kill her, but apparently is a pedophile (based on his Petaluma arrest record, his previous marriage to a 13 year old, his ex-wife’s statement (IIRC, to the Washington Post) that he deliberately got her pregnant when she was 16 to circumvent the state’s parental consent for marriage, his fascination with Polly Klass and JonBenet, and allegations of inappropriate behavior during his student teaching in his senior year).

Whether or not he killed her, my understanding is that he skipped his child porn court hearing so presumably there will be at the least legal repercussions from that.

Whether or not he killed her, he appears to be a guy who has a pretty hard time holding a job, and a guy who is fascinated by the sexual abuse and murder of girls.

His second ex-wife was fifteen when he got her pregnant, and sixteen when they married. His first ex-wife was fourteen, and he was nineteen when they wed.

According to the Washington Post:

Well, you seemed to question whether or not chloroform could be detected in an autopsy. I went over the top in my response to that. It appears to be hard to detect unless the body is still warm.

CDC

Eh, that’s enough of the links. I’m gonna spend some time figuring out how to work this into another anti-smoking thread.

Anyone care to help a guy out in finding how to enjoy a beer while not breathing chloroform? Apparently it’s readily carried in the air. And it’s a poison. And it kills your kidneys and liver. And given time, you’ll die because of it. And it passes into the soil, passing on the poison to my tomatos that I eat.

Thanks, chloroform. I never paid for you. Not a penny in tax was ever collected in your name. Yet I can die from you. Npw I’m pissed.

Also, it is not atypical for the police to release a false autopsy report to prevent the loonies who come in and claim they did it, or others who provide false leads. Not saying this is the case here, but quite frankly, in soem criminal investigations, the police can be very crefty to weed out potential suspects.

Wow, it is in the middle of the night and I have insomnia. I apologize for the spelling errors.

I can’t find in on their site, but the local paper ran a wire service story about this in which the Thai authorities denied that Karr was charged with anything in Thailand. Lots of confusion surrounding things it seems.

Damn this is strange. Karr’s ex is saying he was with her at the time of the murder. Is it possible the guy is delusional? How much more does this poor family have to go though?

I don’t know that chloroform would show up in an autopsy, my guess is that it would but I’m not a medical examiner. But just how easy is it to get? Last time I checked, I didn’t find it in my pharmacy. I’m thinking he said chloroform because he heard that in the movies but isn’t any more able to get his hands on it than I am.

It is amazing all the conflicting info coming out, but IF it is true he is guilty and IF it’s true he admitted it to avoid a hellhole Thai prison, he should probably rethink that position. The jail quality may be better here, but he’s a skinny effete perv lookin’ dude- at least in Thailand he would still be bigger than the average Thai cellmate and would have a shot at fighting off the rapists. In a US prison, he ain’t gonna have a chance.

I thought we had established that he was never arrested for anything in Thailand prior to the murder arrest. If that is the case, there would be no Thai prison term to avoid.

Can you provide a cite for a real life case in which the police did this? Would be very interesting.

All three siblings were cleared. The oldest two were never under suspicion - weren’t even in the state. It was Burke, the youngest bother that lived there, who was interviewed a few times by the police, but he was cleared too.

More chloroform info.

This, of course, was a fatal dose but JonBenet’s body would’ve had a few more minutes to react to the poison. While it evaporates quickly in the open air it breaks down more slowly in the body, especially a dead one, and has a distinctive odor that is sometimes noticed when the body is opened at the autopsy. Its presence can also be detected in the blood and fatty tissue, if it’s looked for.

Heading off another suggestion before it’s made, much the same can be said of ether.

It can be made at home by mixing two common agents I’m not going to name because to make it would likely be suicidal. The difference between an anesthesic dose and an overdose is not large and the administrator would probably need to be trained in order to not kill the recipient.

Um, “it,” in that case, is chloroform.

Do you think after John Ramsey saw the body and lept for it and picked it up…untied the handle and pulled away the cord and started shaking the body and possibly giving psudo CPR…he stopped and thought for a second and said “should I not be doing all this? is it ruining evidence? My bad?”

No matter my suspicions, I’m a father so I do not fault Ramsey for touching the body.
