Arrested Development 11/07

My favorite gag was very subtle.

“Someone in this very room could be wearing a recording device.”
Flash to the family members, one by one.
Flash to Larry who (ho ho!) is openly wearing a wire and camera.
Flash to the entire room, with the boom mike barely visible.

He acted the part very well, too.

Anyone saying this series is losing steam, and well, it might be time to fight! How cool was Ron Howard teasing the mole next week (wait for it, wait for it)? And Michael and Rita rolling down the hill (the ground probably should’t haven’t given way like that), acknowledging Rita’s MRF status, great stuff all around.

Jeezum crow, Rita is freakin hot! I’d marry her, MRF or not!

So George decided to take the bulletproof one.

Freakin’ brilliant.

I also loved when GOB and Buster were making Godzilla noises and then Lucille was just making her ‘regular noises’ and Michael was trying to tell her it was inappropriate. LOL!

Though the gay Scared Straight getting into George’s description of prison was a riot as well!

Great great episodes.
I didn’t TiVo them and I’m very upset about it.

Fun and Failure start in the same place.
“You’re a #%#
I can’t believe they made us bleep that.

It would’ve been such a nice moment!

They totally got me when Michael tossed the glass and George Michael turned away – he copied Young George Michael exactly right.

The whole sequence where Rita called Michael a pussy had me in stitches – I couldn’t believe it when they showed the page from the OED with the offending word blocked out but nonetheless bracketed with "pusilanimous and “pussyfoot.” Then the nurse in “A Very Polite Dustup” took such obvious relish in saying it. (Meanwhile, I’m completely agog that they managed to convince some standards and practices guy to let it through – that actress is going to go down in history.) And then finally the callback at the end of the episode where you could hear the honest disappointment in Howard’s voice when they had to bleep it at the end. Just a perfectly constructed series of jokes, and I cannot think of a show, past or present, that’s ever committed like that. Even Seinfeld, the show that first assayed most of the waters AD plies so successfully today, never constructed jokes so intricately (yes I said that about a pussy joke!), at least not for more than one or two lines.

Mitch Hurwitz, for giving us three years of this, you are the biggest pussy of all!

My favorite line was a little throw away by Gob. When he didn’t want to admit he had a son and Michael reminded him that the DNA tests said it was his.
Something along the lines of: “Well, the jury’s still out on science.”

What had me laughing hardest was when Michael wakes up with a bike part in his bed, just like the Godfather.

Yep, that was the line exactly, IIRC… that was funny as Hell.

“And Alias is a SHOW about spies” (from Buster) cracked me up.

The Maybe plotlines cracked me up. I love how she entered the Inner Beauty pagent in a wheelchair with Nicole Kidman’s nose.

Mike’s reaction to Anne’s entering it in the first place was also priceless. I almost feel sorry for the actress who plays her.

Two fabulous episodes.

My favorite line:

Narrator, as George Sr is crawling into the vent: “George had found a way to sneak past the sensors (censors).”

Buster: “When mom hears about this, she’s going to blow a cow!”

Daaaayum!

Wasn’t Anne with the camel, named Cameltoe??

Luckily I taped it, so I can rewatch it. Personally I think it was kind of hard last night watching a straight hour, so many things going on. I got tired watching it.

I just died when GOB said "Well Michael, the jury’s still out on science.’ He does that part so good.

Rita: “I’m going back to Big Britain.”

The other thing that made me laugh was the reaction Tobias was having to the hair implants: loosing co ordination (Dropping the mirror) and having trouple walking.

I can’t remember the exact wording but When Tobias tells George Michel he wants to “out the Queen” Michael has a great throw away line with something
like “It’s about time”

Other great moments:

Oxy continence.

Frank and his “Goodbye Tobias”. Up to that point he kept pulling away and giving odd looks.

“He’s worth every penny” “I didn’t say that.”

“At lunch Michale found something he had never seen before, his twin sister Lindsey awake”

Ok Who played the British soldier? The Chin was a fake and I could have sworn it was Buster (Much like in season 1 where they did the silent Mexican film and it was GOB Buster and Michael in disguise)

Definitely Buster.

I believe Michael’s line was, “I think we just did.”

Then they cut to an exterior shot and instead of horrified screaming, you hear Michael say, “Does anyone know why my handlebars are in my bed?”

I may have misheard, but didn’t Gob or somebody say “Brilliant idea, Steinberg”?

Is it just me, or is Ann actually kinda hot? Yes, I said Ann, not Annyong. And not Annabelle.

Or at least cute. I rest my case. She’s got a sort of Linda Blair thing going on.
