There have been followup references to the sinkhole. And why on earth would GOB notice anything but himself?
Michael Cera’s discomfort and facial expressions when the poster was exposed were emmy-worthy. Not that that’s a big deal giving recent nominees, but I’m just saying, that’s all.
They’ve dealt with George Michael and Maebe’s discomfort around each other. GM was even going to tell his dad at their camp out.
From the other night-
GOB, looking straight at his brother’s son: “My brother has stolen my son… I’m going to steal something that’s precious to him… his bicycle!”
Supposedly a lot of George Michael’s character and lines are improvised by Michael Cera. If that’s true, I think he has a real future as a comedic actor.
Hey, they thought they were witnessing a miracle- Surely had to win!
I hear the same is true with David Cross (a claim I find entirely beleivable). Then again, I’m sure evryone tosses in their share on improvised lines.
I’ll probably post this in next week’s thread so everyone can see it, but If you have the S2 DVDs, check out the very end of the gag reel, where David Cross just lashes into Fox for the lack of marketing. If you’re familiar with David Cross’ standup, it’s done in the same scathing manner.
Oh another funny reference that I don’t think anyone brought up yet…
When Dave Thomas is taunting Chralize Theron with the (we find out later candy) medallion, he snaps the case closed as she reaches for it. Theron is startled, pulls back and starts laughing… It’s exactly like the scene in Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts.
It is obviously on purpose but I have no idea why since nothing else about the scenario references that movie. Made me bust a gut though.
Me too. I think they just decided to do that when they realized they had that kind of case for the chocolate. It made me laugh a lot too.
I do have to say… watching this show makes me feel incredibly pop culture lierate since there are rarely any jokes like that which sneak by me.
Although I hang my head in shame that it took me like 5 minutes to get the “jump the shark” joke. It was like a joke grenade sometime into the commercial break I blurted out “Winkler jumped over a shark! HAHAAHAH.”
No.
The show is very carefully scripted, and although it looks improvised, it’s very much under control. Tony Hale does his lines exactly as he is told to. A few of the actors will stretch the script to the breaking point (Cross really pushes it), but still stay within its confines. That’s according to one of the DVD extras, anyway.
Que?
I missed that. Where was it?
It was last season, when Barry Zuckercorn was still the Bluths’ lawyer. They had found the radio tag that was on the loose seal that ate Buster’s hand off, but it turned out the tag was in the belly of a shark, which was then killed. I can’t even remember why Winkler’s character was in the scene, but as he was exiting, he jumped right over the shark and everyone else had a perplexed look on their faces.
It remains to this day, in my opinion, one of the most awesome jokes I’ve ever seen on TV. Though I think the Rocketman vs. Moleman fight from the last episode tops it.

Check out the top item. Long story short, Fox is pulling *Arrested Development * from the rest of sweeps and cutting back its episode order for the season.
I missed the episode in which Bob Loblaw took over as the family attorney. Were there any quips about his Happy Days affiliation? Since Chachi and Fonz were cousins I was wondering if Bob and Barry are cousins. (Henry Winkler is almost always described as one of the nicest people in show business- I’m glad he got to play a total slimy bastard on this show.)
Bastards!!!
Does this mean Bluth Industries will only be making 18 houses instead of 22 too??
…Winkler’s reputation? Hmmm… He’s decent enough…his wife on the other hand…
The joke they did with Chachi and Fonzie was Lablaw saying “It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been brought in to replace Zuckercorn.”
It appears the show is in its final throes.
The season has been cut to 13 episodes and has been pulled immediately for the rest of November.
A particularly damning quote:
Well, he’s no Brad Garrett.
Regarding the future of the show: Well, we all kind of saw it coming. Sigh. I just wish they would have made a full season, then put it out on DVD ASAP.
Tidbit from re-watching those two episodes: Surely’s last name in the pageant is “Woolfbeak.”
I think Tobias actually said “I have great regard for building ordnances - Ow! Ow! - and this water tower is not up to code. Lucille!”
It’s officially cancelled:
LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!!! :smack:
