What was Rita doing in the men’s room?
I loved this throwaway line:
“OK dad, I’m going to get one of those corndog crosses.”
“With all the crucifixin’s.”

It was to show how retarded she was AND to play in the misdirect joke that Rita was quite possibly born a man. (MRF=Male RESASSIGNED Female not Mentally Retarded Female)
Two of my favorite lines:
“Oh, I’ve always wanted to make love on horseback!” and “Did I ever mention that I can put my leg over my head?”
Those were funny but that’s the one thread I’m getting a little tired of. Lindsey has her issues of course, but I like her with a little self esteem.
I think it would be interesting if they brought Ellen Degeneres on as a love interest for Tobias.
I know there was a joke in there with the medication that Steve Volt gave Michael, but I must have been wooshed.
Steve gave Michael some “oxy continent”? to help him with his muscle pain. The narrator said that Steve was not pronouncing the name of the medication right. Later Steve said that Michael’s wooziness would get worse before it got better. Where was the joke in all this? What was the medication? What was the significance of the name? Thanks
OxyContin is a narcotic pain reliever.
Oh, and it’s Steve Holt. STEVE HOLT!
He was referring to [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxycontin]oxycontin**, an addictive painkiller and the drug of choice of noted gasbag Rush Limbaugh.
I’ve missed so manmy episodes this season because I have class on Monday, but I finally managed to tape tonight’s episode. The mole-man/rocketman battle? Sooo funny I thought I was going to DIE from laughter. Also, am I the only one who moticed the Les Cousins Dangereaux poster underneath the Fun and Failure poster (in the style of those motivational posters like “Attitude” and “Teamwork”)? I gotta rewatch these two episodes!
Nope, Michael clearly noticed it too.
I’m sure I’m not the first to point this out, but they revel in using GOB to make jokes about GWB (hey, look at that! The initials are even similar).
I just have to say that this show is cast absolutely perfect. The kid who plays George Michael (Michael Cera?) is absolutely brilliant in the role of an insecure, self-conscious teen. And being a heterosexual male, I don’t usually make note of the adoreableness of teenage boys, but George Michael is freaking adoreable.
Plus, I can’t think of two TV characters that have ever made me laugh more (to the point of almost peeing my pants) than Buster and GOB, and that’s all due to Will Arnet’s and Tony Hale’s acting. Some of the lines they say aren’t even what makes me laugh; it’s how they present them, and their expressions. Arnet especially.
Not to mention Henry Winkler, Scott Baio and Liza Minelli…they’ve played their parts beautifully.
And David Cross? He isn’t even the funniest part of the show IMO, which really says something about the overall brilliance of this show. Cuz Cross is friggin’ hi-larious.
And while on the one hand, I just can’t get enough of the new episodes, I secretly, deep down, hope this is the last season because I just don’t want it to ever lose any of the brilliance it’s maintained over the first two and a half seasons. I’ll be utterly content with three seasons-worth of superb television on DVD. I’m afraid if it goes to a season 4, it might suffer quality-wise.
But, if the current ratings are any indication of the show’s future, I don’t think we have to worry about that.
Just my overall 2 cents.
Happy
I think one major reason for the ratings being so dismal is the continuing plotlines. Miss three episodes of (the incomparably inferior) Two and a Half Men or Joey and you’d never know it- no new characters, no references to previous shows, etc., but miss three episodes and it’s still funny but you can hardly keep up. It’s particularly bad when you’re trying to introduce somebody to the show and are having to explain how Buster lost his arm and why George Sr. is in the bedroom (I don’t even know what the deal is with George Sr. at the moment due to the ones I’ve missed), etc…
And it’s such a pity. When Lucille tried to get Buster out of the army by “going Downtown” on his commanding officer (J.K. Simmons)- I laughed more at that one moment that at every other sitcom that year combined.
Who is Annyong? Someone from season one? (I missed the first season.)
And why were green Xs appearing on the screen at some points, starting with Jamie Kennedy’s appearance at the charity auction?
Annyong was a Korean boy adopted by Lucille (and I guess Geroge Sr.) in season one. His real name isn’t Annyong; ‘Annyong’ is ‘hello’ in Korean, and since that was all he said, everyone thought his name was Annyong.
The only reason Lucille adopted Annyong was to teach Buster a lesson. Then she shipped Annyong away to boarding school to teach him a lesson. But she’s since forgotten what that lesson was.
I’m a bit confused by the green xs myself.
Although I only saw an episode or two a few years ago, I believe on his show “The Jamie Kennedy Xperiment” (think “Punked”, but more entertaining), whenever someone was finally let in on the joke, that green X appeared on them accompanied by the sound heard on AD.
And here I thought I’d missed some kind of “Price is Right” joke…
Alright, that’s it. You’re out of the club.
I love that even after we saw Maebe reveal herself as a total fraud, Ann still got third place.
I dearly love the show, but I can’t be the only put off by the failure to tie up plot lines. Remember how at the end of last season Maebe and George Michael kissed on the living room couch, GOB saw them, and the whole house fell into a sinkhole?!
Has there been any even slight reference to that this season? Like teams of construction folks fixing the house, like GOB mulling over his niece’s and his nephew’s incestuous love? Like Maebe and George Michael reacting to it?
“That’s why we don’t teach lessons!”
